“Do you believe him?”

Quinn measured his reaction to what had happened. “I feel like life has been on this track and it’s twisting and turning. Maybe it’s coming full circle now.” Like a coaster. When you get back to the beginning, everything evens out and you can finally catch your breath.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Ginny

Ginny opened her email and found a note from Sister Mary. Aria had been adopted—through all the proper channels. She was going to a family of three with an older brother who was also adopted. The family picture was beautiful, with the mom in a stunning pink dupatta scarf and the father wearing a striped polo shirt and slacks. The mother was staring at the baby as if she had been starving for her. No wonder. Aria would let out these sweet sighs that grabbed hold of your heart and wouldn’t let go. Just the thought of her chubby cheeks stirred motherly instincts in Ginny.

Her eyes fell to the ring, and she had a scary thought. What if Quinn didn’t want children? He loved his niece, had been a big part of her early life. What if he’d decided kids were too much work? In a near panic—a feeling she wasn’t used to allowing control her actions—she called him.

“Hello?” he answered, sounding happy to hear her voice.

She suppressed the squeal of excitement and blurted, “Do you want kids?”

The ensuing quiet was like a long fuse leading up to a stack of dynamite around her heart. If he said no, she might blow up and never recover.

“Yes.”

“Whew.” She sagged in her chair.

He laughed. “Is that all you wanted to know?”

She warmed at his easygoing tone. Some guys would have freaked out at the mention of children, but then, she’d always been able to talk to Quinn. Now that they were beyond the limits of friendship, she wanted to share everything with him. “How soon?”

He chuckled. “I’m ready when you are. Want to start tonight?” His rumbly voice made her melt deeper into the leather seat.

She giggled. “Wedding first.”

He snapped his fingers. “Shoot. Okay, honeymoon baby it is.”

She smiled so big her muscles hurt. “I’m good with that.”

“Well, my day is considerably brighter. What are your plans?”

“Work. You?” She sat up and straightened the pen on her desk to align with the pad of paper.

“I’m golfing with my dad.”

“That’s right. I forgot that was today.” He’d filled her in on the situation. After their first meeting at Pike Place, Richard had called to set up a golf game. Quinn hesitated but in the end agreed to go, saying something about people coming full circle. She was happy for Quinn. He had an opportunity to reconnect with someone he’d thought was lost to him forever. That didn’t happen every day. “Have fun.”

They said goodbye, andI love younearly slipped from her lips. However, she’d blindsided him with the whole baby thing—which he’d taken really well. DroppingI love youin his lap in the same conversation was a bit much. Besides, it would be nice to hear him say it first. Not that she didn’t think he loved her. He did. It would be nice if he knew he loved her before she went and blabbed on about her feelings.

Lyle walked in and a switch flipped inside of Ginny, shutting off the giggling fiancée and turning on the hard-nosed executive.

“Did you get the dresses I had sent over?” he asked.

She nodded. “I picked one for the engagement party. Thank you. Do you need anything for me before tomorrow?” It was happening again. Time was moving faster than she could keep up with.

“I need photos of you and Quinton for the video montage, and then we’re done.”

Ginny nodded. They’d been on several dates and she’d taken pics. “You can get what you need off my phone. Also, my old Facebook page should have tons of us in college.”

“I’ll take care of it.”

“You’re fantastic.”

“That’s why you pay me the big bucks.”
