Harrison shook his head. “No. If she took you to the farm, she was sure of how she felt.”

Nash had no experience with a woman that would give him a frame of reference for this situation. He hadn’t been able to make amends with his family, and they knew him as the child who’d made his mom go back inside the store and pay for the grapes she’d sampled in the produce department before buying the bag, and they still thought he was capable of wanting to hurt others. He truly didn’t. “What am I supposed to do?”

“I can’t believe I’m saying this. Go after her. Now.” Harrison stood up. “I don’t particularly like you, but I think Everett was right. You’re the man Arthur would have chosen for this company, and you might just be the man he’d like to see with his daughter.Ifyou can swallow your pride and beg her forgiveness.”

Nash slapped his hand on the table. “Done! I have no pride.” He jumped to his feet and rushed out the door in time to see the town car pull away from the curb. “Ben!”

Ben flinched. “Yes, sir?” He saidsirlike he wasn’t quite sure that was the correct title. Surely the man had listened in on the meeting and knew Nash had been made CEO. The front desk was a mere ten feet from the open conference room door.

“Where’s Mrs. Westport?”

He shifted from foot to foot. “I—she, um, I don’t know.”

“Call the driver and find out. I need to speak to her immediately.”

Ben scampered to make the call. Nash paced across the soft wood floors. He’d find Kenzi and convince her he loved her. He’d give up being CEO, and he’d walk away from Hazel’s and from Kenzi without a backward glance.

Well, maybe one glance, just to see her smile one more time.
