Robert gritted his teeth, and she smiled at him, using some of the things he had taught her over the years to bring him to the brink of release before stopping.

“Bloody hell,” he muttered, attempting to urge her on. “Dinnae stop, lass.”

She leaned forward, her hair falling like a veil over them. “Tell me.”

His eyes dilated before he sighed, knowing that she wasn’t going to give up until he did. It was a game they played often, and Isabel did sometimes let him win.

“I love ye.”

Isabel smirked and sat back up. “Good, now ye can finish.” She did like being in charge of everything, including her husband.

The power was unlike anything she had felt before, and it wasn’t until later, when Robert was snoring beside her, that she wondered what it would be like once they killed the McGregor laird and put her into power instead. Robert had promised she could have her own clan, and Isabel hoped that he would hold up his end of the promise or she might have to kill him as well.

It would be a great loss if he did cross her.
