I tweaked all of my preferences, widening my age range, height, literally anything I could just to give me more options. The app paused, the little cog wheel turning as it populated my new parameters.

“Thank you for calling Alpha Net, the app for perfect heat matches. My name is Elyse, how can I help you today?”
“Hi, Elyse. My name is Daphne Hayes.”
“Yes, Miss Hayes! You’re part of our test weekend. How is the app working for you?”
“It’s not, Elyse. I’m still in heat, but I only have one match no matter what I do. I’m in Las Vegas. There should be more than one person in this city who’s testing the app this weekend. Could you maybe, I don’t know, tell me how many there are?”
The click clacks of her keyboard sounded in my ear as I waited for her to speak.
“Miss Hayes, I do apologize for the issues that you’re having with our app. Unfortunately, I’m unable to disclose whether there are any other Alphas near you at this time. Several of our users haven’t logged in yet, so there may be more options for you tomorrow on Valentine’s Day. It’s a day full of love, you know.”Ha. “Just be patient, and give everyone time to create their accounts and get logged in.
