Anubis moaned, and his head fell forward on Star's lower back, and a smile graced his lips as he tried to catch his breath when Star spoke in a graveled tone.
“Did I get the part?”
“That and more, baby boy.”You might possibly have my heart, Anubis thought but did not voice it out loud. He figured he would wait until the time was right before he waxed words of love. They still had time for all of that.

Star huffedin frustration a few days later, trying to find his car keys. The car was a gift from Anubis, and in his joy of getting the gift, Star attacked his lover with more than just kisses of gratitude and had somehow misplaced the keys and, coincidentally, his ringing cell phone. Following the sound, Star found his phone that had slipped under the bed. Getting his phone, Star smiled when he saw Dent's name on the screen.
“Tell me you're back in town.”
“Hey, kid, I've been back for a few days. I've just been a bit busy.”
“So, what's up?” Star asked as he continued to search for his keys.
“What are you up to today? I haven't really seen you since we got to Valleywood.”
Star moaned mournfully. “I can't. I have plans.”
“Really?” Dent said, and Star heard the shock in his voice. “Did you start seeing someone?”
"I did, but that's not who I’m busy with,” Star said distractedly.Where the fuck are my keys?
“Want to tell me about him? I'll do a background check and make sure he has no skeletons in his closet.”
Star snickered, thinking of Dent's facial expression if he knew Star was seeing the Anubis Ahket. He'd probably be shocked as hell. But since he had asked Anubis to keep their relationship a secret, Star had to do the same.
“Are you going to tell me about the personyou'vebeen seeing?”
“Changing the topic, I see,” Dent said, and Star could hear the laughter in his tone. “Fine. Since you won't reveal your secrets, let's meet for lunch later this week. I won't be going back to California. I’ve decided to stay.”
“Okay, I'm game.” He was excited to hear that Dent was moving to Valleywood permanently and knew it had everything to do with the person he was dating.
“Good. See you in a couple of days.”
They hung up just as Star received a message notification. Not looking at the number, he opened it, and his brows furrowed, reading the words on the screen.
I will ruin you. Everything you hold dear will be mine.
Who is this?Star texted back, but he didn’t get a response. Is someone playing a sick-ass joke?He was about to text them again, but Anubis entered the room.
“Aren't you going to be late for your lunch meeting with Vivienne?”
Star pushed the weird text message to the back of his mind, pocketing his cell phone. “I can't find my car keys.”
Anubis pointed to the dresser, and Star followed his finger and shook his head when he saw his keys in plain view. “Shit,” Star said and went to get his keys, but Anubis stopped him.
“Are you all right? You seem distracted?”
Anubis's eyes showed concern, and although Star was a little bothered by the text, it wasn't enough for him to take some ambiguous message to heart. It was his belief the person was not talking to or about him. He was certain it was a wrong number, some nut job going off on someone else.
Star smiled and hugged Anubis's neck, brushing their lips together and looking up at him with fuck-me eyes. “What could possibly be wrong when my daddy takes such good care of me.”
Anubis lightly smacked Star on his ass. “Be careful. If you keep staring at me like that, I won't let you meet with your manager today.”
Knowing that Anubis was a man of his word, Star quickly got out of his arms and ran to the door. “How about you hold off on that until I get back tonight.”
“It's a deal. Drive safe.”
