“Cum.”
Star gasped Anubis’s name, curling his toes in the sheet, cumming on his fingers. He shivered, panting for breath as he slowly came down from his orgasmic glow. He gently removed his fingers from his hole, hating that his fingers weren’t Anubis’s cock.
After cleaning up, Star sat next to the window and stared up at the moon, daydreaming of the day he would finally be able to let go and let someone into his heart.
Chapter Eighteen
STAR
Afew days later, Star exited Nellie’s Diner holding a large cup of coffee, yawning. He'd been up since three that morning and had been on set at four. It was currently after eleven, and he'd finished filming his scene for the day and was heading back home to catch a quick nap before Fiona picked him up for his next job. Vivienne was really trying to make him famous in her timeframe. Star had been so busy, it seemed as if he hadn't even had time to breathe. He was so glad that he had the coming weekend off.
Star was about to cross the street at the intersection just as an SUV with tinted windows, front and back, pulled up and stopped in front of him.
He frowned, wondering what the hell this person's problem was and was about to yell some choice words at the driver when the window slowly rolled down, and the face of a man he never wanted to see again came into view. The cup fell from Star's hand, splashing hot coffee all over his leg, but he ignored it as he stared at Thornton Miller.
“Get in. We need to talk,” he ordered in that brash tone that was so familiar. Maybe hewasthe same from his previous life.
“What are you doing here?” Star asked, coming out of his stupor. He clenched his hands into fists, hoping to hide their shaking. “How did you find me?”
“If you get in, I'll tell you,” Thornton said. His voice was even, yet Star could hear the impatience in his words.
“We've said all that needed to be said the last time we spoke.” Star moved away from the curb, putting space between them. “You and I have nothing to do with each other.”
“The fuck we don't. I've been trying to call you for months,” Thornton roared and banged his fist on the steering wheel hard, making the vehicle shake.
“So those phone calls were you? I should have you arrested for stalking,” Star shouted. No wonder he got headaches whenever the phone rang. Mentally, he knew they were from Thornton since he could tell his body had adjusted to Valleywood's magic.
“Stalking! Son of a bitch, you almost ruined my damn life, and then you disappeared. Don't you think you owe me an explanation?” Thornton exploded.
His anger brought back everything Star hated and feared about the man. But no matter what, he couldn't back down; he needed to find a way to get far away from Thornton. “We meant nothing to each other, Thornton, so what do you think I owe you?”
Thornton said nothing. He growled and opened the car door, getting out, taking large steps over to Star with his long legs. Star backed up, ready to run, but smacked right into a wall. Arms circled his waist like the last time he ran from Thornton. Looking up, he was happy to see Anubis. Being in Anubis's arms, his trepidation faded away, and he knew for certain that Thornton couldn't hurt him.
They stared at each other, and it was as if Anubis knew Star was in trouble and didn’t let him go. “Mister Miller, this is an unexpected surprise. Shouldn't you be with your client? I understood you were trying to broker a deal for her with Abandon Entertainment.”
Star gasped when he heard Anubis say Thornton's name. They knew each other. How?
“Director Ahket, I wasn't aware you were privy to such information.”
Anubis smirked, and Star thought he was looking at a handsome demon.
“You'd be surprised the things I know. Now, it wouldn't be good for you to be late. Kyron is a stickler for punctuality.”
Star looked between them, both men glaring at each other, no words being said, and Star couldn't understand what was happening. Star turned his gaze back to Anubis, whose arms tightened around his waist, and he felt like he was in a standoff between two alphas trying to show how big their dicks were. However, only one person knew who was bigger.
“Star.” He turned his head and looked at Thornton when he called his name. “Our conversation isn’t over.”
With one last look at Anubis, Thornton hurried back to his vehicle and sped away.
“How do you know Thornton Miller?” Anubis asked once the other man's car had disappeared down the street.
“A mistake from my past I don't ever want to repeat,” Star answered. “How do you know him?”
“He's Sundi Noxx's manager.”
Star's heart pounded in his chest. The past really had a way of repeating itself. In his last life, Sundi and Thornton were joined at the hip and made his life a living hell, and now they were back.
“Don't ever be alone with that guy. I don’t like the way he was looking at you.”
