“I'm doing this because I can. I'm doing this because you are not worthy of this life.”

Star slowly raised his gaze and noticed that instead of seeing gray rotting flesh, he saw a beautiful pale complexion. His brows furrowed as he continued to look up and gasped when he connected with a familiar mark, and his eyes widened when he saw the figure's face.

“You're...” Star croaked. He couldn't stop his body from shaking, unsure if what he saw was real.

“I hate to break it to you. I’m not who you think you’re seeing. I’m the person you fear the most. However, I am far worse than him.”

Before he could say more, the figure smiled, raised his foot, and aimed it at Star's face. Star howled, sitting up in bed, panting heavily. He couldn't stop shaking. His body was drenched with sweat and ached from head to toe. Grabbing his head, he couldn't understand why he was in so much pain. Star groaned and crawled from bed, walking to the bathroom on shaky legs. Without turning on the lights, he slowly moved over to the sink and turned on the faucet, splashing his face with cold water.

Fuck,he groaned. Why do I feel like I'd been tossed around? I had one of those dreams again, didn’t I? I just wish I could remember it.

Leaning on the sink, Star looked in the mirror and could have sworn he wasn't seeing things right and turned on the lights so that he could see better. His neck was red, as if someone had tried to strangle him, not to mention his face hurt and felt as if he had been punched repeatedly.

What the hell happened to me?

Strange things had been happening to him lately. Star wracked his brain, trying to think what he was doing before he fell asleep. The last thing he did was read and make notes on the script while waiting for Anubis to call. While Anubis was away on business, Leer Goldenmane, the assistant director, was in charge on set, and he was just as tough as Anubis. Since Anubis wasn't on set, they were filming around his scenes until he returned. Grabbing his head, Star shook his head, as nothing came to him. All he could recall was that he was dreaming, about what, he didn't know. Groaning, Star wondered if he was losing his mind. The last time he was so confused about things was when he was learning about his current world and magic.

Hearing his cell phone ring, Star walked back into his bedroom and smiled, and anything else that was bothering him seeped away, as if it was all a bad memory when he spotted Anubis's name. “When are you coming home?” Star asked when he answered and grabbed the cream Chase gave him so long ago but kept in his nightstand. “You promised to call me last night but didn't.”

“I know, baby boy, things got a bit hectic here last night, but I will be home to you soon.”

“Are you going to tell me what you have been up to?”

“Turn on the news,” Anubis responded.

Star's brows furrowed, and he looked at the time, realizing it was after ten in the morning.

“Breaking news on the business front,” Jamie Stewart, the news anchor, started. “Actor and director Anubis Ahket has acquired Equi-Noxx Entertainment...”

As the anchor spoke, a picture of Anubis appeared on the screen, smiling even as microphones were pushed into his face and reporters asked him questions at the same time. Beside him was Thor and another man Star had seen with Anubis a few times but never met.

“Mr. Ahket, why did you buy the entertainment company?” one shouted.

“What changes will you make?” another yelled.

Anubis didn’t answer them. He just smiled, and Star rolled his eyes when the reporter blushed. The screen quickly changed back to the reporter at the news desk who had made a few commentaries, then reported about a dead body that was beaten bloody and the assailant was unknown, and that the police were investigating it. Apparently, it wasn’t the first time it had been happening in recent days. The police called the person theHit and Run killer. Star remembered Vivienne mentioned the name a few weeks back. However, Star could care less about some killer and tuned out the report and focused on the fact that Anubis had done something unexpected.

“You...you bought Equi-Noxx Entertainment? Why?”

Anubis chuckled. “I'll tell you when I get home.”

“Hurry home, I miss you,” Star told him.

“I miss you, too, baby boy.” Anubis chuckled. “I can't wait to see you.”

“If you want to see me, you know what to do,” Star said, biting his bottom lip.

Anubis groaned. “Baby, I can't right now.”

“Why is Daddy having a hard time getting the company? I thought you were the powerful Anubis. Then again, you have been around since the universe's formation.”

“Oh, baby boy, you're asking for it. Be glad I'm headed to a meeting, or I would rush home and spank that pert ass for you.”

“It's a shame. Daddy cares more about work than he does me, I guess...” Star stopped speaking when Anubis growled on the other end of the phone.

“Keep talking like that, and I won't let you cum for a week,” Anubis snapped.

Star knew he should stop adding fuel to the fire, but he needed Anubis to come home. For some odd reason, he was feeling a bit anxious, and he knew having Anubis close would ease all his worries.
