“Go cut your fucking dick off,” he growled, then turned and walked into his apartment, slamming the door.

Uriel leaned against the hardwood and slid down, wrapping his arms around his legs, resting his head against his knees.

What the hell is he doing here? How did he find out where I live?

“Uri…baby…let me in so that we can talk,” Azazel’s voice came through from the other side of the door. “I’m not going anywhere until we talk.”

“Talk! Do you think I want to listen to anything you have to say after what you did?”

“What I did! Uriel, do you think you have a right to be angry after you kept my children from me? First Donald, now Kristoph. What else are you keeping from me?”

Hearing Azazel’s words, Uriel stood and opened the door. “How did you find out about Kris?”

“He came to see me.”

Kristoph went to see him?Uriel sagged against the door, feeling betrayed by his son.

“Dad, please don’t be angry.”

Uriel turned and looked at his son, who had tears in his eyes. Every angry word that was on the tip of his tongue stalled when Orion’s words came back to him.

“Don’t be surprised when he does something on his own.”

Uriel felt defeated and realized that he couldn’t fight the bond between father and son. Azazel was right. He had no room to talk. He’d kept them apart long enough. Taking a deep breath, Uriel stepped to the side, allowing Azazel to enter. “Come inside. You two can get to know each other. I only came back to get something.”

Azazel walked inside and over to Kristoph and pulled the child into his arms. “I didn’t get to do this earlier.”

Uriel closed the door and passed by the hugging father and son, trying to hide his jealousy. He headed to his office and got what he needed and was about to disappear.

“Are you sure you want to do things this way?”

Uriel looked up when he heard Orion’s voice. “I have work to do.”

“Uri, stop running away from this,” Orion said.

“It’s the only thing I can do right now, Orion. I'm not ready to face him.” Uriel’s heart ached.

"What are you talking about?" Orion asked. "You've been in his presence for weeks."

"That's because I had Blue Lennox to hide behind. I can't do this as myself, I'm not ready." Uriel shook his head, completely disappointed with himself. All the years he'd thought about the moment he'd face Azazel and the things he would say went rushing out of his head. As Blue Lennox he'd had the confidence but now he felt angry and useless. “Tell Kris I'm not mad at him for doing what he did. I need some time alone, I’ll be back in a couple of hours.”

“I know how you get when you feel like things are out of control. So I’m asking you, don’t go to the fight club.”

Uriel smiled. "It's the only place that brings me comfort right now," he said and disappeared.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Azazel leaned back and lookedat his son, who was beaming up at him, then the smile slowly faded from Kristoph's face.

“What’s wrong?” Azazel asked.

“You shouldn’t have come,” Kristoph said.

“Why not?”

Kristoph sighed and pulled him over to the sofa. “I was going to ease him into this, now you've scared him off. He wasn't ready to see you.”

“Kristoph, your dad is not a fragile man," Azazel said. "He’s tougher than he looks.”
