“So you’ve been watching me since then?”
“Don’t change the subject,” Alistaire said, leaning back.
“Tell me what the problem could be.”
Fox sighed. “Two years ago, I’d planned to move to Valleywood to go to law school. But I held back for many reasons, one being my parents. Well, not my parents...more so my brother.” Fox looked to Vale, trying to gauge his reaction.
“If you don’t know, he’s kind of overprotective.”
Alistaire rolled his eyes. “I didn’t have a clue.”
Fox chuckled. “I love him, and I guess I can take some of the blame for him being like that. I’ve made him worry over the past few years. That’s why I never told them I was going to law school. I thought I would have a chance after Zev found his mates, but I chickened out. Since I got out of the hospital, I’ve been giving him some space to be with his mates. But I think he feels I’m pushing him away.”
“By the way you’re talking, I take it you’ve gotten your memory back?”
“Not all, but the majority of it.”
Fox noticed his new and old memories were starting to blend over the past couple of weeks. He still remembered he was Fox Morgan. However, Crevan Hannigan’s memories were beginning to overshadow his past life.
“You should talk to him. I think he’ll understand.”
Fox hummed. “Maybe, I will. Gods. I love my family, but they can be a bit smothering.”
“I can definitely understand that.” Alistaire smiled. “I’m a Vale...there are no secrets between us.”
They both stared at each other, chuckling. Fox felt trapped by Alistaire’s green eyes and couldn’t look away from the other man.
Alistaire cleared his throat and hurriedly reached for his glass of water, finishing it in one gulp. “So other than law school, what other plans do you have in mind?”
Fox grinned. “Let’s see, other than having you fuck me?”
“Baby, you’re asking for it.” Alistaire leaned his face closer to Fox’s.
“Are you going to give it to me?” Fox teased.
“Answer my question.” Alistaire sat back in his chair, seeming a bit exasperated with him.
“Okay, I won’t tease you anymore.” Fox chuckled. “I want to travel and show Genesis how big the world is, and in between, defend those who are unable to defend themselves.”
Alistaire clasp their hands together. “I don’t hear a place for me in those plans. I thought we agreed to build a future together?”
“Any plans I made before we met stays with one change.” Fox squeezed Alistaire’s hand. “I won’t do them without you.”
“Does that include more kids?”
Fox narrowed his eyes, looking at his lover. “How many more are we talking about?”
“Hm…” Alistaire rubbed his chin like he was hatching a diabolical plan. “Let’s say five more, including Genesis.”
“Let’s say you’ve lost your damn mind,” Fox said in surprise.
Alistaire barked out a laugh causing a few diners to look in their direction. “How about we negotiate,” he said between his chuckling.
“Two more kids, and that’s my only offer, take or leave it.”
“I said negotiate, babe. Not ultimatums.”
Fox shrugged. “That’s how I negotiate.”
