“It’s creepy. Go back to being grumpy.”

“Keep talking like that, and I won’t feed you.”

“Damn, why are you so mean,” Ava whined.

“Stop acting like a baby.”

Alistaire didn’t look behind him when he heard Kayne and Synder chuckling at his expense.

“What do you think?”Fox asked Emma and Genesis.

Both cat and child who were on the bed with Genesis securely locked in her baby gym, with Emma lounging at her feet. He was getting ready for his date with Alistaire and had already changed in and out of three outfits because his daughter and cat apparently disapproved of what he was wearing. For the new inspection, he went with black slacks and a white shirt. Emma meowed, and Fox could have sworn she said “try again,” looking away from him, and Genesis didn’t even bat an eye or give him one of her delightful smiles.

“You two are so hard to please,” he grumbled, walking back into his closet to try on something else.

Fox was grateful his body’s previous owner had excellent fashion taste, so he didn’t need to go shopping. Fox pulled out a pair of white jeans and a cobalt blue long sleeve turtleneck sweater. After redressing, he checked his hair in the mirror, loving his new haircut. It was still short on the sides, but he’d taken some of the length off the top, giving his curls more definition, adding to his youthful appearance. Feeling confident in his new outfit, Fox headed back to his bedroom to face his fashion squad.

“Okay, this is the last time I’m changing my clothes. So if you two don’t like it…” Fox rounded the corner and swallowed the rest of his words when he saw Alistaire Vale sitting back on the bed with his eyes closed. Genesis was lying on his chest, trying her best to keep her head up, looking into his face.

What a beautiful sight.Quickly pulling out his phone, Fox snapped a couple of shots of them together. He also took a few of Emma, who was purring and rubbing against Alistaire’s leg, trying to get his attention.

Give it up, Emma. Your cute act isn’t working.

Emma instantly stopped wiggling and stood, looking at Fox as if she’d heard his thoughts.I’m not acting cute. I am cute. Silly human.Emma purred, then jumped off the bed and strutted out of the room with her head held high.

“I think I’m going crazy,” Alistaire said, getting Fox’s attention. “Either Genesis learned to talk already, or I can understand cat language.”

“Then we’re both going crazy because I heard it, too.” Then a thought occurred to him. “My mom did say Emma was magical.”

“I would say it was weird. But we live in Vale Valley, so anything is possible.”

They chuckled and stared at each other. The heat generated between them could melt the largest iceberg. Alistaire was dressed in all black with a red knitted scarf draped around his neck.

What a shame that a man can look that sexy in something so simple.

“You look good. I like the new haircut,” Alistaire said, and Fox felt a bit flushed.

“Thank you. How are you feeling?”

“Come here.”

Alistaire extended a hand towards him. Fox walked over to the bed and sat beside him. Genesis lifted her head and smiled at Fox before laying back down on Alistaire’s chest. He leaned down and kissed his little girl on her forehead, watching as her eyes slowly closed.

“Do I get a kiss like that as well?”

“Not until you tell me how you’re feeling,” Fox answered.

Alistaire smiled, then grabbed him by the front of his sweater, pulling him close and captured his lips. Their kiss was slow and sensual, sending tingles all over his body. Their lips slowly separated, and Fox blinked his eyes open, staring at the handsome man in front of him.

“Why don’t you tell me how I feel.”

“Hmm…good.”

Alistaire’s lips curled into a pleasant smile. “I missed you today.”

Fox blushed, feeling the excitement fluttering in his stomach. “You did?”
