"Me, friends with a human, is that possible? I mean, I work with them, but I’ve never considered them to be my friends." He stood and started pacing. "Well, maybe it's not that impossible. And if Fenrir sees I'm friends with you since you tutor his kid, he might not think I'm such a bad person anyway."

Fox had no idea what the guy was mumbling about but found him a bit funny.

"Okay, I'll do it." He sat back down beside him. "I'll stick around as much as I can when I'm not off collecting souls."

"Sounds good. So start talking."

"Talking, who said I was going to talk?"

"Then what..." Fox didn't get to finish his words, Nafri pressed a finger to his lips and pressed their foreheads together. Before he could push him away, visions appeared in his mind.

Fox saw a beautiful man with platinum blond shoulder-length hair that was later cut short on the sides, and Heterochromia iridum eyes—one blue and the other green. The guy had a smile and face that would make any man or woman's knees buckle, grow from a child to an adult. The mole on the left side of his upper lip gave him an impish yet sexy appearance.

"Is that me?"Since waking up, he hadn't thought to ask for a mirror to see what he looked like. He’d been too concerned trying to figure out where he was and what happened to him.

"Yes,"Nafri answered in his mind."Keep watching."

Fox continued to watch the new him interact with people, it seemed the town and the residents who lived here were filled with magic of different sorts. The past him didn't think that was possible, but the new him apparently knew it was.

He not only saw but felt his happiness, pain, and his loneliness, his desire to have a child, as well as going against his family and doctor’s warning that it could cause his death. Images after images came, filling in some of the gaps for Fox up to the moment he was going into labor.

As Aria had said, he’d been heading home from the wine store, but had gone into labor and lost control of his car trying to get to the hospital. Fox had known he was going to die but had prayed to the gods for a miracle to save his baby before he drew his last breath, and that was when he saw familiar green eyes.

Vale.Alistaire Vale saved my life, and he's in Vale Valley? Now shit just got weirder.

Chapter Three

Alistaire walked into the Mayor’s Mansion, heading straight for the kitchen. He wasn’t surprised to see his brother-in-law’s ass sticking out from the fridge. At three months pregnant with his second child, he was craving everything, according to Alphonso.

“Hey, where is everyone? I thought we all had to be here for Sunday dinner?”

Rosemary had gently reminded Alistaire he had to be present at the manor for Sunday dinner if he wasn’t working. He’d missed a couple of dinners, gladly using work as the excuse.

“Hey, Alistaire.” Sirius poked his head out of the fridge for a quick second. “I’m not sure where they are. But then again, I didn’t look for anyone. I came straight to the kitchen.”

He pulled out a platter filled with a half-eaten roasted chicken and gave it to Alistaire, who took it and set it down on the table. Alistaire liked Sirius. The witch had shown up in the town not long before he had and had been quickly mated with a kid on the way by the time Alistaire had shown up in town.

Sirius and Alphonso had bonded over being somewhat new to the Vale family. Sirius had a great sense of humor and had Alphonso wrapped around his little finger, and in turn, their daughters Tamia and Brigid ruled their parents with their cuteness.

“Want a sandwich?” Sirius's hands were filled with condiments, and Alistaire rushed over to help him. “I figure we might as well get something to eat while we wait for everyone to show up.”

“Nah, you go ahead and eat.”

“Suit yourself.” Sirius shrugged, grabbing the bread, then sat at the table and started making his sandwich. “So, how are you? I haven’t seen you in a couple of weeks.”

Alistaire sat on the other side of the table. “I’ve been good.”

“I heard about what you did the other day, saving Crevan Hannigan and all.”

Shit, why are people still talking about that?

“I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary.”

“Yeah, right. You saved him and his baby girl.” Sirius took a bite of his sandwich. “That guy should be grateful to you, or maybe he would be...if he remembers.”

“What do you mean?”

“He has amnesia. Didn’t his cousin tell you?”
