He knew every one of his family members were at Rosemary and Odin’s wedding. As much as he loved Rosemary, Fox couldn’t attend the wedding. He couldn’t bear to see Alistaire, especially dressed up in a tuxedo. So, he’d sent his gift and well wishes with his parents.
He opened the door and held back his gasp.
Alistaire stood in front of him looking so sexy he wasn’t sure if he could string a sentence together. His hair had grown out over the past couple of weeks and had gotten a lot redder. He’dslicked it back, showing off his beautiful green eyes. He was dressed in a black jacket and shirt with a matching kilt. His red silk tie and vest were the same color as the moon in the sky.
Fox knew it was the work of the witches coven in Vale Valley, and only those who knew and understood magic could see the moon’s color.
Don’t look down at his legs. Don’t get distracted by his sexy, strong, powerful legs. I wish the kilt sword pin wasn’t holding the edges down.
Fox couldn’t help it as his eyes strayed down to Alistaire’s legs, imagining all the times he’d rode Alistaire cock supporting himself on them.
“How fucking dare you take my daughter out of the town without informing me.” Alistaire plucked Genesis out of his arms and held her close, then kissed her on her forehead—snapping Fox out of his daydream. Alistaire looked down at her, and Genesis raised her head and peered up at him—reaching for his face. She babbled something to Alistaire, then laid her head down on his chest.
“Now you want to claim her as your daughter when you haven’t seen her in weeks?” Fox rolled his eyes. “You better come in. It’s cold outside, and I don’t want her to get sick.”
Fox stepped away from the doorway and walked back into his living room. He looked around, trying to find something to keep his hands busy.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
Alistaire’s voice was so close to his ears, Fox had to take a deep breath so as not to show how affected he was by the other man.
Turning, he faced Alistaire. “Last time I checked, you and I are no longer together. So what I do with my daughter is none of your business.”
“None of my business,” Alistaire snapped. “When I make a commitment to someone, I keep it. And I promised Genesis I would be the father she needs.”
“Fine, you want to be her father!” Fox yelled. “You can change her, feed her, then put her to bed. That should give you and her some time together.”
“Wait! Where are you going? I can’t breastfeed her!”
“You’re her father, right? Figure it out.”
Wanting to get out of the house and away from Alistaire quickly, using his powers, he disappeared, going to his favorite garden in the godly realm. He knew Genesis would be all right since he had some milk in the fridge he’d expressed earlier that day. But he wasn’t going back to tell Alistaire.
Let him figure that shit out for himself.
“Who’s the coward now?”
“Dammit! Shut up, Nafri.”
“No, I will not. I promised that silly human I’d go out on a date with him if he gave your love your address. Now look at you...hiding.”
“You sound like such a damn martyr. Dilen is a nice guy, and you’d be one lucky person if you fell in love with him.”
“Don’t go talking about that love stuff. It’s just one date, not marriage. Go back and fix things with your lover.”
Nafri was right. He was running away when he needed to clear the air once and for all with Alistaire. He’d let the man go to love who he wanted, yet, he showed up on his doorstep.
Why? It couldn’t be that he changed his mind. Well, I don’t care. I don’t want to hear what he has to say. So why the hell am I going back?
Fox disappeared from the gardens and showed up in his living room. The lights were off, and the house was quiet.
Fuck, I forgot time works differently in the realm of the gods.
It might seem as if he’d been gone for a minute, but it could mean hours in the human realm. He went up the stairs and checked on Genesis, who was fast asleep in her crib. She looked well taken care of while he was gone. He walked out of her room and closed the door partway, and went to his bedroom.
The lights were also off in his room. He didn’t bother turning them on and started getting undressed. He knew Alistaire hadn’t left. He could feel his presence in the house. Besides, as angry as they were with each other, Alistaire wouldn’t leave Genesis alone.
“You took your sweet ass time coming back.” Alistaire turned on the lamp on the nightstand. He was lying in bed, naked from the waist up.
