“Ask. I’ll go anywhere you want.”
“Why are you two whispering?” Erica asked, leaning over the table. “You two are the only ones in the place right now.” Her eyes bouncing back and forth between them.
“Are you two dating?” The excitement in her question should have told him something.
Quintus slowly turned his head and looked at her with wide eyes. Scott kept his gaze on the cheetah in front of him.
“What if we are?” Scott asked, still looking at Quintus.
“Then I say it’s about damn time you got laid.”
“Then we are.” Scott said, and it surprised Quintus who turned to look at him.
“Good,” she said, setting down their drinks. “I’m assuming this is new and a secret?”
“Very new. So, let’s keep this between the three of us for now,” Scott told her.
“You got it,” she said. “It’s good to see you moving on. Now, let me take your orders and leave you two to talk. No need to have me interrupting you while you get to know each other.”
They both ordered hamburgers with everything, including onions, on them. They were quiet for a few minutes staring at each other before the other man spoke.
“You told her we were dating,” Quintus said seeming shy.
“I did.” He reached over and picked up his hand, kissing the back. “Did I embarrass you?”
“No. I like knowingyou want me for more than just sex.”
“You have no idea how much I want you right now, but I promised myself today we would to get to know each other first.”
“I want to get to know you, too,” Quintus said with a smile. “It’s crazy to know we’ve known each other for years but know nothing at all about one another.”
“So, let’s start by fixing that right now,” Scott said.
“Okay.” Quintus nodded. “Let’s start with something simple.” Tapping on his chin as he looked at Scott. “Do you have any brothers and sisters? Are your parents still alive?”
Scott chuckled. “Here I thought you were going to ask me what’s my favorite color?”
“I already know what that is,” Quintus said.
“Oh really,” Scott said with interest. “What is it?”
“Red,” Quintus answered with confidence. “I’m right, aren’t I?”
“Yes, you are.”
“Now answer my question.”
“Yes, my parents are alive. They were here a couple of weeks ago, and I have an older brother and sister with a host of kids between them.”
“Speaking of cubs, do you want any?”
Scott took a second to think about it. At one time in his life, he thought he and Alec would adopt since his lover wasn’t able to get pregnant. He hadn’t thought about having kids until he saw Quintus holding one of the triplets a few nights earlier.
“I do one day,” he finally answered. “What about you?”
“You should know what my favorite color is,” Quintus said.
“Not that,” Scott said, shaking his head. “Just like you, I know what that is.”
