Scott shook his head, but he was sure Loki didn’t see the action as he sat down in the chair by the desk. He also wasn’t going to tell himFenrir was in Vale Valley, or why he was there. Scott couldn’t get over how sad and brokenhearted Loki appeared. He wasn’t sure what to do or say.
Loki wasn’t a nice person, and the sudden change to want to connect with family didn’t ring true to him. But as a doctor, it was his duty to help those who came to see him. And as evil as his uncle was, Scott couldn’t turn him away if he asked for help. Especially, since he pitied the man.
“What do you want from me, Loki?”
He raised his head, looking up at Scott. “Help me, please.”
“How?”
“Tell me what I need to do to get into the family’s good graces.”
“I can’t give you the words, that’s something you will need to figure out for yourself. But I will say action speaks louder than words.”
“Then I’m screwed.”
You think?Scott kept the comment to himself. No one in his family trusted the god. He was powerful and used his power to torment and tease rather than help those in need.
“Start with the small things,” Scott told him, hating himself for saying the words.
“Like talking to your father.”
“I…” Loki started but paused. “Okay, I will. What else?”
“Are you really trying to change?”
Loki looked him square in the face when he answered. “I am.”
“Why now?”
Loki looked deep into his eyes. “You know what it’s like being lonely.” He turned his gaze away from Scott. “There are so many things that I want in this life. I want to know what it feels like to really fall in love. I want my father to see and accept the real me. I want to live and not be hated because of the things I’ve done in the past.”
Scott really wanted to believe him, but something was telling him he shouldn’t.
“Then I’ll try and help any way I can. But if this is another one of your tricks, so help me Loki, I will find a way to kill you.”
Loki chuckled. “You are a lot more ballsy than I gave you credit for. Everyone considers you to be kindhearted and forgiving.”
“Are you going to take my help or not?”
“I’ll take it.”
Loki stood and walked over to him. He was about to hug him, but Scott stopped the action by holding out his hand for his uncle to shake.
“I guess we aren’t at the family hug stage,” Loki said, looking down at his hand.
“Not yet,” Scott told him. “I still don’t trust you.”
Loki nodded. “Then I will try and earn your trust,” he said, shaking Scott’s hand. He was about to disappear, but Scott stopped him. “I wouldn’t do that,” he said.
“Why?”
“My assistant will be wondering how you left. He knows about supernaturals but not that gods are real.”
“Right,” Loki said, letting go of his hand and stepping back. He changed his appearance to a man with blond hair and deep green eyes.
Loki smirked and walked around Scott to open the door. “Do me a favor.”
“What?” Scott asked, looking at him over his shoulder.
