Scott realized he was going to need more help in finding Loki. As much as he appreciated his bearer and the other gods who were helping to look for Quintus and Sareena, there was only one person who could help him more. He didn’t want to bring him into all of this, not when he had his own troubles he was dealing with. Scott didn’t have any choice.
Scott closed his eyes and called for him.“Fenrir, my brother. I need you.”
“What do you need?”
“Tell me where your father is,” he said, opening his eyes. He didn’t say anything about Donald being beside him.
“What has he done this time?”
“He’s taken my mate. In return for me getting him back, I must kill my bearer.”
“Holy fuck, what the hell kind of family is this?” Donald said.
“Silence,” Fenrir said to the man standing beside him, who instantly quieted. “I don’t know where he is, but I’ll help you find Quintus. I feel as if I am also to blame for what has happened. And just as you had promised to stand with me, I will do the same with you.” He turned to Donald and rested a hand on his shoulders. “Go back home or go inside the diner. I’ll come and find you when this is all over.”
“No,” Donald said. “Quintus is my best friend, and I want to help.”
“But you can’t shift.”
“I don’t give a fuck what I can or cannot do. I’m going with you to find my friend.”
“Fine. But if you die, be ready for me to go to the underworld and retrieve your soul.”
Donald leaned up and kissed him on his lips. “You better, or I will never forgive you.”
Fenrir shifted into his massive, black wolf form, with glowing red eyes and tail of fire. Scott watched as Donald climbed onto his back. Fenrir raised his head, sniffing the air. As they were about to take off, the doors to the diner was pushed open, and Sareena’s mate came running out. He looked at the young boy who must have been just as worried as Scott was?. It made him feel guilty that a member of his family was the cause of Zion’s worry, especially when his mate was so close to giving birth. Telling him to go back inside and stay with Elizabella wasn’t going to help. And Scottwasn’t sure how Elizabella hadn’t been outside to read him the riot act.
“Get on his back,” Scott told Zion. “But don’t die, I don’t want to be the one to explain that to Sareena.”
“I promise, sir.”
He got on Fenrir’s back, and the large wolf god took off. Scott followed right behind him, praying he found his mate soon.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Quintus groaned as he opened his eyes, hearing his name being called.
“Qu…Quinny. Wake up.”
“Wh…what?”
“Quintus, please. You have to wake up.”
His slowly peeled his eyes open as he sat up. Sareena sat in front of him. Quintus creased his brows, wondering why she was looking down at him like that.
“Sareena, what’s wrong?”
“My cubs,” she said, breathing heavily. “They…are coming.” She grabbed onto Quintus and buried her face in his chest, moaning in pain.
“Okay, Reena. Just breathe, okay,” he told her reaching for his cellphone and realizing he didn’t have it to call the ambulance. “Stay here. I…”
“Quinny, please don’t leave or that thing will come back.” She grabbed onto him so tight, Quintus winced from her nails digging into his arms.
“What thing? What are you talking about?”
“The thing that brought us here who looks like our father,” she told him.
And then it all came back to Quintus—him being in his house, his father showing up, and the awful smell knocking him out. Looking around, he recognized where they were. They were in one of the bedrooms of his and Scott’s new house.
