“Are you guys having a good time?” He asked the audience. The crowd gave him loud cheers and whistles, making him chuckle. “So, I wrote a new song. Do you guys want to hear it?” The entire square erupted with joy. “I can’t hear you. I said, do you want to hear our new song?”

While the crowd cheered for more, Scott turned to Chance and nodded. Scott raised a hand to his lips, quieting the crowd down just a bit. Chance started a slow beat on his drums and then Owen joined on the keyboard, humming as he played the slow melody as Jerry added his base. Scott closed his eyes and let the words he’d wrote filled him as they burst from mouth.

Life without you doesn’t feel real

I hold my breath waiting for the moment

I can see you again

To touch you, to feel you, hold you

And make you smile again.

I want to love you

So, I can make you forever mine.

Scott stood on the stage and poured his heart out into his words, giving them life.

The love we share will never go away

Because in my heart that’s where you will stay forever.

I know I don’t deserve your love

But I need your love to survive

An image of Alec’s smiling face came to him, and for a short second he recalled some of their good times together and the life they could’ve had. Sadness washed over him as he realized what was happening. He was saying goodbye to the man he’d once loved the best way he’d known how.

Tears streamed down his cheeks. He realized that throughout sadness, there was a light at the end waiting for him. Alec disappeared and was replaced with a vision of Quintus, who was alive and waiting for him.

We are forever tethered together

Never will you leave my side

Because you are forever mine

He opened his eyes, and it was as if the large crowd disappeared—the only person he could see was Quintus. Scott got down off the stage, and the crowd parted into two as if knowing where he was going. He kept his eyes on his mate as he sang. He stopped once he was standing in front of his mate, looking deep into his gold orbs.

I can see you again.

To touch you, feel you, hold you

I want to make you forever mine.

Take my hand and let me love you

Open your heart to me and trust me to keep it safe

Because you are all that matters in my heart

He circled an arm around Quintus’s waist, pulling him close. “I’m sorry,” he said, pulling the microphone away from his mouth. “I was an idiot.”

“Yes, you were,” Quintus whispered.

“Do you forgive me?”

“On one condition.”
