What the holy fuck!Creed thought about throwing the letter down on his desk and stood. He did another scan of the room, and again nothing looked out of the ordinary. It was practically empty. He started pacing the room trying to figure if someone was trying to help him or was it some trap.

How the hell do they know I’m looking into something?

Creed was sure that Riley hadn’t told anyone what they were up to and Winter just found out.

So who's been watching us?

Creed walked over to his desk and picked up the letter, rereading it. His brain got stuck on the name.

Where did I hear that name before?

“Hey, I’m about to head out, I put the changes on Stewart’s desk for him to add to the Morris model,” Jarrod said, stepping into his office.

“Um...yeah thanks,” he said a bit distractedly.

“Are you all right? You seem a bit weird.”

“Yeah, if you say so.”

He went to leave, but Creed stopped him. “Do you know someone called Noah Ray?”

“No...Noah Ray, no why?”

Creed watched Jarrod’s body language to see if he was lying, but he could see why the man had. “He was the one that broke into Richard and Caroline’s house a while back.”

“R...really? And you caught him?”

“Something like that, he got away,” Creed said, only telling part of the truth.

“I thought he was still in police custody?” Jarrod mumbled, but Creed heard him perfectly.

“How could you, how fucking could you?” Creed shouted.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Jarrod said.

“Yes you do, you fucking bastard!” Creed shouted as he came from behind his desk and grabbed Jarrod by his collar. “Why’d you do it?”

Creed raised a hand to punch the hell out of Jarrod, but he hadn’t counted on the other man carrying a weapon. It was too late for him to react before he heard the sound of the gun, and the scent of flesh burning filled the air before he realized he was shot. Jarrod backed away from him holding up the gun in front of him. Creed stumbled and hit his desk falling to the ground, his hand covering his side worried that he couldn’t feel any blood coming in his back, worried that the bullet was still inside of him.

“Why did you do it?” Creed asked again.

“I didn’t have a choice,” Jarrod told him, then walked closer to Creed and hit him in the head with the butt of his gun knocking him out cold.
