“Good,” Calista said. He heard a lightness to her tone. “Tell me, Sirius, why are you looking for a new job, especially in a small town like Vale Valley?”
“I’m looking for a new change in my life, and I’m getting tired of living in a big city.”
The line was quiet for a few minutes, and Sirius couldn’t believe he was opening up to her so easily. He realized as well that he wasn’t as nervous as when they first started talking.
“So when would you like to come out and visit us, all expenses will be paid for of course.”
Did I get the job?“Does that mean I have the job?”
“To the point, but I’d like to meet you face to face. How does next week sound?”
“It sounds great,” he said then a thought came to him. “Would it be okay if I come earlier and check out the town?”
"That’s a wonderful idea,” she cheered. “I’ll have Tessa send you the information you’ll need, and I cannot wait to meet you, Sirius Henson.”
With that, she ended their call and Sirius had a feeling that the second he entered Vale Valley his life would change. He just couldn’t figure out if it would be for the better.
Only time will tell.
