“Run,” he said.
“What?” Sirius asked him.
“I said run,” he gritted out. “I’ll keep him busy so you can get away.”
“Who the hell are you talking about? What the fuck is going on?”
“Nic…Nic… why the fuck did you have to get in my way? All you had to do was stay away from him.”
Sirius froze when he heard Naheem’s voice. He looked away from Nicholas and looked at the other man.
“What the hell is this, Naheem? Why did you attack Nicholas?”
“What does it look like? I’m trying to kill him, something I should have done with you and that woman that called herself your mother. Well, her I did kill.”
Sirius gasped at hearing that. “Why? Why are you trying to kill us? How did you kill my mother?”
“Because you are all in my way,” Naheem said not looking guilty at all.
“Sirius, I’m going to distract him, and I want you to run,” Nicholas panted behind him.
“I’m not leaving you,” Sirius said turning around to look at the other man.
“You have to. You need to think about your baby.”
He couldn’t forget that he was having a baby, but he wasn’t going leave Nicholas either. “I’m not leaving you. I can protect you and my baby.”
“Sirius, don’t,” Nicholas said but he wasn’t listening. “Naheem is much stronger than you are, especially now that you’re pregnant. All of your magical energy is focused on the baby.”
Sirius ignored him, because there had to be something he could do. He turned to face Naheem with his hand out ready to send an attack, but Nicholas moved in front of him and said a spell he hadn’t heard before.
“Fuck,” Naheem cursed. “I forgot how dangerous you could be, but that spell won’t stop me from killing you both.”
“I will not let you harm yourself or the baby in your desire to protect me, Sirius.”
“Awe isn’t that sweet trying to protect your best friend’s child. It’s a pity you didn’t show such concern when Brigid left, but you knew she was leaving, didn’t you?”
“Sirius, go get help,” Nicholas told him.
“I can’t leave you here to die. You’re hurt.”
“I’m not going to die. I promise you that.”
Nicholas never looked back at Sirius, but he could help but wonder what Naheem was talking about.
“What is he talking about?” Sirius asked Nicholas.
“Don’t listen to him,” Nicholas yelled.
“Why, Nic, you don’t want him to know the truth?”
“I won’t stand here and let you lie to Sirius,” Nicholas yelled.
“What lies would I be telling? I’m not the only one that craves for Bedwyr. I see the way your eyes follow him every time he enters the room begging to have him notice your longing stares.”
“I already know how Nicholas feels about my father,” Sirius said.
“But do you know what he did to your mother?”
