Chapter Sixteen

Sirius

Why did you come back? You should have stayed the hell away! I will get rid of you like I did your mother the first time.

Sirius gasped and shot up in bed panting heavily as he looked around, realizing that he was in the bedroom he shared with Alphonso at the mayor’s mansion. He pushed the covers back and got out of bed, walking over to the window. It had been a while since he had a nightmare. But his dream felt so damn real. He wasn’t able to see the person’s face, nor did he recognize their voice. All he saw was the sharp blade coming at him.

Who did I piss off by coming back to Vale Valley? Hell, I didn’t even know I was from here.

It had been two months since he’d been attacked in the hospital parking lot and for a while, he’d forgotten about it. His life was progressing along with his pregnancy. He rubbed his little bump that had grown a lot quicker than he was expecting. If the information he read was correct, between his magic and Alphonso’s mixed vampiric and werewolf genes, their baby was growing at a fast rate. According to the book he read, a typical male pregnancy lasted eight months, but their baby would arrive in five months.

Not only that but he, Alphonso, and Tamia would be moving into their new home the following day. They were all excited that things were progressing so well. He and Bedwyr were starting to get closer, he wasn’t at the stage of calling him ‘Daddy’ as of yet, but things were getting better.

Synder and Kayne had returned to Los Angeles to close up their office and move back to Vale Valley permanently. That made Rosemary and Alphonso happy. Sirius had also met Alphonso’s friend Cristyn who had paid them a quick visit. Cristyn liked Vale Valley a lot but not enough to stay more than a couple of weeks before the big city was calling her back.

More importantly, things were starting to slow down and settle between him and Alphonso. His mother was right about one thing; at the pace that everything happened between him and Alphonso, it could have only been because of the bewitching. Even if that was the case, it changed nothing for him because he truly loved his mate and his new life. He didn’t regret his decision to move to Vale Valley. He only wished he knew who was trying to tear it apart.

Sighing he looked back at the bed, and although it seemed very inviting, he wasn’t in the mood to sleep anymore. Spotting his briefcase sitting on the sofa, he figured he might as well get some work done.

He’d been at it for a couple of hours and looked up when he heard rustling coming from the bed.

“When we move into our place, I’m implementing a new rule,” Alphonso said getting out of bed.

“Yeah, what rule is that?”

His mate got out of bed and sauntered over to him, taking the folder out of his hand and threw it on the cushion beside him. He reached down and lifted Sirius in his arms who instantly wrapped his own around his lover’s neck. “No work in the bedroom unless you’re panting breathlessly underneath me.” He wiggled his eyebrows.

Sirius burst out in laughter then shook his head. “You are so corny, but I love you more than words can say.”

Alphonso smiled. “I love you too.” He carried Sirius back to bed and made love to him erasing all thoughts of his nightmare.

Later that weekSirius got off the elevator and was heading to his car when he saw Nicholas walking towards him. He’d gotten to know Nicholas and realized he liked the older man. He could also tell that Nicholas was infatuated with Bedwyr and wasn’t sure why the man hadn’t made his intentions known to the coven leader as of yet.

“Hey what are you doing here?” Sirius asked him.

“I’m here to see a friend,” Nicholas told him stuffing his hands in his pockets.

There was something off with Nicholas and Sirius couldn’t put his finger on what was wrong. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m good. I just have a few things on my mind.”

“Want to talk about it?” Sirius asked him.

“Nah, it’s nothing that you can help me with.”

“All right, if you’re sure.”

“I am,” Nicholas said stepping around him. “I just need to work it out for myself.”

“Does it have anything to do with Bedwyr?”

“Stop asking questions and go home to your m—”

Nicholas didn’t finish whatever he was going to say and stumbled back grabbing his chest. He fell against the elevator doors and stopped himself from falling to the ground.

“Nicholas,” Sirius yelled dropping his briefcase on the ground and went to his side. “What the hell just happened?”
