“Like knowing men could get pregnant?”
“Yes.”
“And that’s how you knew about the town, through her?”
“Yeah, she talked about Vale Valley, but it was mostly in disdain. If she lived here at one point, I wouldn’t know because each time I tried to get her to talk about it, she would get angry and change the subject.”
“I can see where that might be frustrating.”
“Oh gods, you have no idea.”
“I might have some inclination as to what you were dealing with,” Alphonso told him. “Remember I told you I used to live here?”
“That’s right, you did.”
“My dads for some reason refuse to talk about why they left. I know what little they told me isn’t the whole story.”
“God’s why do parents have to be so damn ridiculous! Promise me we won’t do stupid shit like that to our kids,” he said looking up at his mate.
Alphonso smiled. “Are you saying that you want to have kids with me?”
“Of course, now that I know what can happen, I wouldn’t mind having your child. But how about we hold off for a bit, I still need to get to know Tamia. What if she doesn’t like me?”
Alphonso barked out a laugh, and Sirius couldn’t help but wonder what the hell was so funny.
“I don’t think you have to worry about that. I have a feeling you won’t be able to keep Tamia from your side once you see her again.”
“I doubt that, we’ve only met once, there is no way for her to be attached to me so quickly.”
“Kids have an idea who they can trust and who they can’t. Especially children who are born in the supernatural world.”
Sirius was quietly wondering if he should ask about Tamia’s mother. The burning question of where she was and if he was in love wither her still, even though they were mated.
“It was a one-night stand.”
“What?”
“Between me and Tamia’s mother, Assandria. We were only together once. I had no idea she was pregnant until I got the call that my daughter was born, and her mother died after she gave birth.”
“How did you know what I was thinking?”
“Our mind link is open. We might want to keep it closed unless we are in danger or something.”
Sirius nodded. “She wasn’t your mate?” he asked going back to their conversation.
“No, I was attracted to her, and we spent a beautiful night together that resulted in a gift that has brought joy to my life in so many ways. I can’t say I was careless because I should have worn protection, but I think it’s something we both wanted and needed that night.”
Sirius understood the need of wanting to feel a lover without barriers between them. He couldn’t get angry because honestly, there wasn’t a need to. What happened between Alphonso and Tamia’s mother was in the past, and it was time to move on to their future.
“So, what was that you mumbled when you put this on my chest?”
“Since witches don’t have carnies like shifters this is our way of claiming our mates,” he answered touching the runes on Alphonso’s chest. “Most witches don’t practice it. But ever since I knew that one day, I would have a mate, I wrote the spell and came up with the runes.” He sat up quickly as if remembering something. “Oh shit, I did it without your permission. I’m so sorry.”
“What did you say?”
Sirius sighed then closed his eyes. “I take you as mine as you take me as yours. I give you my strength as I become your shield. I willingly bound myself to you in life and love. I give you my blood freely as I take yours at your will. I give you my heart and soul because I am yours forever and always.”
“That’s beautiful,” Alphonso said after a few seconds of silence.
