Mate!I’ve found my mate, and what are the odds he’s a witch.

Alphonso tried to reason in his mind on what he should do next, but all he could do was stand there and stare at the man’s lips as he spoke. He couldn’t do what he really wanted to do which was claim his mate, but not with his daughter in his arms. With just one touch it felt as if every nerve in Alphonso’s body was on fire. He was glad that his coat was long enough to hide his erection. Alphonso wanted to pull the other man in his arms and bury his face in his neck, taking in his scent.

“I’m sorry, what did you say?” Alphonso asked hoping that his mate would not get offended for not hearing what he said or his name.

“I said it’s all right. I wasn’t doing anything but driving myself crazy with something I found out not too long ago.”

“Is it something I can help you with? I know we just met but as a favor for keeping Tamia company…”

“No it’s fine, I promise. I just need to do some research and fully wrap my head around the possibility of course. But then I shouldn’t be surprised, right? I mean look where I am.”

Alphonso continued to listen to his mate babble on adorably about whatever was bugging him. He wanted to remove the confusion from his light brown eyes. His eyes trailed down his mate’s body, disappointed that he couldn’t glean anything through the coat he was wearing. He looked down at their joined hands and wondered if the other man realized that neither of them had yet to let go.

“Are you sure? I’m a good listener. At least let me buy you a cup of coffee.”

Alphonso wasn’t ready to leave the man’s side. He needed to find a way to keep the man with him and prayed he recognized they were mates. It seemed that the man hadn’t realized they were mates. He stepped closer and his knees almost buckled from the delicious scent that hit him.

Fuck, I want him, now.

As if realizing how close they were the other man stepped back, and their hands separated. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hold your hand hostage.”

You didn’t, because I never want to let you go now that I’ve found you.“So how about I buy coffee and you tell me what’s bothering you,” he said instead.

“Are you always this kind to people you just met?”

“Not always,” he answered. But I would do anything to make you smile.“As I said, this is my way of thanking you for not running off with my kid.”

His mate sighed. “She won me over with her cuteness.”

“She has a way of charming you into doing what she wants.”

“She’s not the only one,” was said quickly and the other man’s eyes widened as if it wasn’t supposed to be heard. “I didn’t mean…what I meant was…”

“That you’ll have that coffee with me,” Alphonso for him and stopped his babbling.Even if it is adorable.

“Yeah, since you owe me and all.”

“Good, come on I’ve wanted to try out the crepe shop since I got to town.”

“Oh gods, their crepes are so delicious,” the other man said as they started walking in the direction of Sweet Bites. “I’ve been there at least three times a day since I got to town.”

He has a sweet tooth,Alphonso thought putting the information in the back of his mind for later.

“Even though I’m not much for sweets, but Ren makes them just perfect where I don’t feel the need to gag. I thought he’d put a spell on me until I realized he was a reindeer.”

Fuck, cross showering him with chocolate off the list.

Alphonso watched his face lite up as he spoke. “Wait, you said your name is Alphonso Vale. That means you’re related to Rosemary.”

“Yup, she’s my grandmother.”

“So, does that mean I’m having coffee with one of the town’s royal family?”

“Hardly, I’m in awe of what my grandmother has accomplished like everyone else.”

“It must have been nice growing up here.”
