Chapter Seven
They were walking to Stephen’s car, after leaving the doctor’s office. Stephen was about to get in his vehicle when Brenden stopped him. “Hey, I was wondering if you are doing anything this Saturday?”
Stephen stopped and looked at Brenden. “No, nothing, why?”
“Want to go out on a date with me?”
Stephen was dumbstruck, he certainly was not expecting that. “A date?”
“Yes, you know. Just the two of us, no kids, well with one exception.” He smiled and pointed to Stephen’s midsection.
“I know what you meant, smartass,” he said with a smile. Then he had an idea. “What about now? I don’t have anywhere to be,” he rambled. “My dad is watching Nick…” He stopped when Brenden smiled, and it turned into a chuckle. “What? What’s so funny?”
“I sometimes forget how adorable you are.”
Stephen rolled his eyes and folded his arms over his chest. “Do you want to go out now or what?”
“Sure,” Brenden answered, still smiling.
Stephen grumbled, calling Brenden a few choice words as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. He dialed his dad’s number, and Julian answered on the first ring.
“How did your appointment go?”
He knew his dad would want to know how his appointment went, which was one of the other reasons why he called. He also knew it was Brenden’s first time seeing their child and wanted to give him the space he needed.
“It went well; your grandchild is growing as expected,” he said with a smile then looked up at Brenden. “Listen, Dad, did you have anything planned tonight?”
“No, I’m staying home tonight, are you bothered by that? I can always find something to do.”
“It’s not that.” He turned away from Brenden. “Brenden and I are wanting to get something to eat, and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t keeping you from your mystery man.”
“Go have fun for once, spend some time with Brenden. Nicholas and I will be all right.”
He noticed that his dad didn’t comment on the mystery man. “Okay, kiss Nicholas good night for me in case I’m not back by the time he goes to bed.”
“Will do,” Julian answered, hanging up the phone.
“It seems I’m all yours for the night,” Stephen called out to Brenden, who turned and smiled.
“For how long?” Brenden asked with a seductive smile.
Stephen shook his head and smiled. “For as long as you want me.”
Brenden stepped closer to him without touching him and gave him that cocky smile that made him weak in the knees. “I’m going to hold you to that.”
“You do that.” They stared at each other and Stephen could feel another shift in their relationship. “So where do you want to go?”
Brenden was silent for a few seconds. “I have an idea where we can go.”
“Where?”
“It’s a surprise,” he said, backing up and walking over to his motorcycle. “Just try to keep up,” Brenden told him before getting on his bike.
“Of course, I can, what do you take me for?”
“We’ll see.” He put his helmet on and started his bike.
Stephen turned and got into his car. The minute he turned his on, Brenden drove right by him. They took approximately thirty minutes to reach their destination. Still new to the area, Stephen had no idea where they were. He’d kept up with Brenden just fine. He parked his car not far from Brenden’s bike.
