“What for?” Drew asks at the same time as Jett.
“Since my fiancée came home and is now sitting in my house in fucking tears!” he booms, slamming his fist down on the table. He takes a deep breath before continuing. “Apparently her relationship with me, and because of my association with the club, it’s a conflict of interest.”
Jett curses. “That’s total bullshit! Collins can’t do that!”
“He can and he did.”
“Seems he’s not wasting any time,” Cru says.
“You wanna pay him a little visit?” I suggest.
Myles shakes his head. “I wanted to, but Allie begged me not to make shit worse than it already is and I respect her too much to go behind her back.”
“I don’t understand. You’ve made no move to keep your relationship a secret, so why now?” Drew asks.
He sighs heavily. “Fuck knows. I hate this. She loves her job and now she can’t do it because of me.”
“Allie loves you and I guarantee if it comes down to it, she’dchoose you every time,” Jett offers.
“But she shouldn’t have to choose,” he argues. “She deserves everything and because of me, because Iloveher, she can’t do the one thing she enjoys.”
Myles worships Allie, everyone can see it. When she hurts, he hurts too which only angers me more. Two of the most important people in my life are in pain and I fucking hate it.
“This is Watson, has to be,” I say. “The prick’s written all over this. He pulls Barry Collins’ strings, he’s his fucking puppet master.”
Myles turns his attention to me. “Kill, where are we with the plan?”
“It’s not gonna be as easy as I first thought. Kaia’s not the type to just jump into bed with me. Need to earn her trust and it’s gonna take a little time.”
“You’ve done a great job so far, she fucking hates your guts,” Jett chimes in.
“Fuck off,” I snap.
Jett throws his head back in laughter, slapping his hand on the table in front of him. “You should’ve seen it! This girl straight-up handed Kill his ass without lifting a finger. It was epic!”
“I’ll hand you your ass without breaking into a sweat if you don’t shut the fuck up,” I warn, but it only makes him laugh harder.
“It was a good call to hire her at the bar where we can keep her close, keep an eye on her,” Myles says.
“It’ll make Kill’s job easier. You’re welcome.” Jett shoots me a smug grin.
“What if it’s all one big set up? She quits college and comes back home around the same time shit goes south? You thinkKaia could be spying for her father?” Cru asks.
Jett shakes his head. “Nah, the impression I got was that there’s not a lot of love lost between her and her dad. She didn’t seem surprised in the slightest when I mentioned he wasn’t popular around here. Overheard her telling Sof that when she got home after the fight, he called her a whore ‘cause of the dress she was wearing.”
He called her a whore?
Hearing that shouldn’t bother me as much as it does, given the last two times we’ve met she’s been nothing but judgemental, but I know all that shit has come directly from her piece of crap father.
What kind of a father calls their daughter something like that?
A shitty one, that’s what kind.
Kaia looked like something that night, but the wordwhorenever once crossed my mind to describe her. Sure, her dress was short as fuck and left nothing to the imagination, but Christ, she was a vision. An angel. A goddamn knock out and it’s an image that’s been ingrained on my mind ever since.
The fact he treats his own daughter like shit only makes me more determined to bring the prick down a peg or two, and I’m gonna enjoy every single second.
