“Should we move him?” I ask. “He might’ve broken something.”

“It’ll be quicker than waiting for an ambulance. Come on.”

The shoulder I landed on screams in pain as Beau and I lift Killian, taking his weight around our shoulders as we stumble towards the truck.

Once we’ve got him inside, Beau floors it to the hospital, passing by my car left abandoned on the side of the road.

I press a kiss to Killian’s forehead as his head rests on my shoulder. “You’re going to be okay, I’m here.”

An hour later, I’m sat in a room by myself, perched on a hospital bed after being given a thorough checking over. Any cuts have been cleaned and bandaged up. I’ve had X-rays taken of my shoulder and my ankle to check for any breaks or fractures. I’ve provided a blood test and given a urine sample to check for any damage to my right kidney as a precaution.

The door to my room bursts opens as Sofia rushes in, her eyes wide.

“Oh my gosh! Thanks God!” She crosses the room and pulls me into her arms, her embrace so tight my already aching bones screamingin pain.

She pulls back, her eyes darting all over my face. “Are you okay? I came as soon as I heard! What happened?”

“A van ran Killian and I off the road. He’s having tests done, they think he has a concussion and possibly some broken ribs.”

“Fuck, babe.” She hops up onto the bed beside me, draping and arm around me. “I’m so glad you’re okay. What have the doctors said?”

“Nothing yet, still waiting on the results. I mean, I feel fine, just a bit bruised.”

“What were you doing with Killian?”

Before I have the chance to answer, the door opens and the nurse who took my bloods walks in. She smiles. “Thank you for waiting, Miss Watson. The X-rays we took of your ankle and shoulder show no sign of any significant damage to the bones or connective tissue, just expect some bruising over the next week or so. If anything significant changes, please come back to us. In addition, we’ve analysed both your blood and urine samples and there’s no trace of any abnormalities so there is no sign of any internal bleeding or damage to your kidney from the impact. However, I would like to conduct an ultrasound to ensure the health of the fetus.”

“Th—The what?”Did I hear that right?

The nurse’s face blanches then frowns. “Were you not aware that you’re pregnant?”

Sofia stills beside me, reaching for my hand and squeezing it so tight, I know I heard the nurse correctly.

I blink a few times, staring at her wide-eyed as I try to process her words.

Health of the fetus… Pregnant…

No. No. No. No.No…

Thiscannotbe happening.

The tiredness, the nausea, my fluctuating appetite…

Oh… My…God.

“Miss Watson?” the nurse prompts.

“Sorry. I uh… I—I didn’t know. Are you sure?”

“Both the blood and urine samples you provided show increased hCG levels indicating pregnancy. I understand this must come as a shock to you, but I’d like to take you down for an ultrasound and after that we can look at discharging you.”

My heart races, my mind still not fully grasping this is real. It’s like I’m having an out of body experience or something, like it’s not actually happening tomebut to somebody else.

“Babe, you okay?” Fi asks.

I glance to her. “Will you come with me?”
