“Logan?” Amy’s voice brings me back to the present. “Are you alright?”
I give her a reassuring smile. “Absolutely.”
“Who was that?” Amy asks.
“No one you need worry about, baby. Come on.” She looks at me, and for a second she doesn’t seem convinced, but she doesn’t push it, and the two of us head over to where Ty and Vinnie are working on a beat-up old Volvo.
My heart is still pounding. What the fuck was he doing here? I still have time to get his money. The better question though, how exactly do I plan on doing that.
“Yo!” Ty calls, smiling when he sees us approach.
“Logan! What’s up, fucker!” Vin hollers, dropping the wrench he’s holding and making his way over to us. “What’s got you in on your day off?” His eyes dart to Amy and his smile widens. “And this beautiful girl must be Amy, right?”
“Hi.” She smiles.
“Lo, how is it you’ve been hiding this one for so long?” Vin asks, shaking his head disapprovingly before turning his attention back to her. “I’m Vince, but you can call me Vinnie, sweets.” He winks.
“Back off, man,” I warn playfully. “She’s mine.”
“Noted.” Vinnie smirks, turning back to her. “If you ever get tired of this asshole, I’m available.” He winks.
“Ignore him,” Ty says, extending his hand out to Amy. “I’m Ty. It’s nice to meet you, Amy. We’ve heard a lot about you.”
“You have?” she asks.
“You kidding? This guy is like a lovesick puppy at the shop,” he says.
“Shut the fuck up,” I say, not bothering to hide the smile from spreading across my face.
“I guess you’re here to see the samples?” Ty asks.
“We sure are.”
“Awesome, follow me.” We follow him into the body shop out the back of the garage. Five squares lay on the table in the back corner, each of them a slightly different shade of green.
“Okay, so Lo mentioned the colour you wanted, so I put these together for you to look over.” He turns to a stack of papers off to the side, “I did some mock-ups for you too, to get an idea of what each colour would look like on the car.” He pulls out a collection of detailed drawings of a GTO, scattering them across the table, each one so good they almost look like photographs.
“You drew all these?” Amy asks, leaning over the table to get a closer look.
He shrugs. “Yeah, it’s no big deal.”
“These are amazing,” she says as her eyes drift over the drawings. “Have you always wanted to do this?”
“Nah, it only started out as a hobby. My uh... my father wanted me to continue the family business but a lot of shit happened and I left. I found Logan and the rest was history.”
“Well, you’re really good,” she says.
He smiles. “Thanks.”
She scans the samples and the drawings closely before settling on the second drawing. “I like this one.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. That’s the colour I wanna go for.”
“Awesome. I think that was my favourite too. Just bring the car in anytime and we’ll get started on it.”
“Thank you so much for this,” Amy says with a smile.
