“What can I say? I’m a bearer of pleasure, baby.” I can almost hear the smirk he’s no doubt sporting.
A laugh tears through me, and he laughs with me. “I think we’re going to need another shower,” I say.
“I think so too, but I’m not complaining,” he agrees, pulling out of me slowly, then discards the condom into the trash can.
He takes my hand and leads me back into the bathroom where we take yet another shower, and it’s not for another half an hour that I’m leading him down the stairs towards the front door.
As I open the door to let him out, he turns to me, leaning in close. He presses a delicate kiss to my lips. “I’d rather stay here and go for round two,” kiss, “and three,” kiss, “and four,” kiss, “but I have to go to the shop. Got a lot of work to do today.”
“Okay,” I say, a little disappointed.
“I’ll see you soon.”
“Bye.” I rise on my tip toes and place my lips over his. He cups my face and deepens the kiss, and when he breaks it, the loss of his lips on mine is instant. He gives me a sorry smile before heading out the door, pulling it closed behind him.
I rest my forehead against the door and sigh deeply. I know to him this is just sex and nothing more, and deep down, I’m okay with that. He has his reasons for not wanting a relationship and I respect it, but at the same time, I’m still hoping he’ll change his mind.
I push off the door and turn around to find my mom standing in the doorway to the living room at the opposite end of the hall.
“Jesus! Mom!” I screech, placing a hand over my heart to steady it. “You scared me. I thought you were at work?”
“Not today.” We stand for a few seconds in silence before she speaks again. “How long have you been sleeping with him?”
My face pales, my heart hammering in my chest as heat rises into my cheeks. “Last night was the first time.”
“I see.” She nods slowly in understanding as she makes her way over to me.
“Mom, it wasn’t planned. I’m sorry.”
“Are you sure you know what you’re doing, Amy?”
“What do you mean?” I ask.
“Logan is a lot older than you and I’m just a little concerned is all.”
“Dad was older when you guys got together,” I point out.
“True, but you’re a lot younger than I was.”
“I thought you liked Logan?”
She folds her arms across her chest, heaving a sigh. “Idolike Logan, honey, he seems like a good guy, but I’m just not entirely sure he’s right for you.”
“I know it’s weird, him being older and all… but I like him, I like him a lot, Mom.”
“He’s not the guy I envisioned for you and I’m not going to lie and say that I’m one hundred percent on board with this, because I’m not. But I’ve seen the way he looks at you, and if that’s not a man who’s completely smitten with you then I don’t know what is.” She smiles down at me, pulling me into her arms and placing a kiss to my forehead. “Just answer me this, is he good to you? Does he treat you right?”
“Yeah.”
“Then that’s all that matters to me, but if for one second I suspect he’s not, he’ll have me to deal with. And do me one favour will you? Next time he stays over, warn me so I can buy earplugs, these walls aren’t made out of lead, you know.”
“Mom! Jesus!”
“I’m kidding!” She laughs, holding me tighter. “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure.”
“Were you careful?”
