“Fuck... That’s a beautiful car.”
“He bought it for me as a birthday present and I want to finish it. I can’t just leave it there to rot in the garage, it deserves more than that.”
“And I’m guessing you’re looking for a hot, hunky mechanic to help fix it up, right?” A sexy grin spreads across his face.
“Oh, do you know someone?” I tease, knowing damn well he means himself.
He laughs, a deep rumble vibrating through his chest and I shiver at the sound. God, how I’ve missed that sound. I find myself smiling too, a foreign feeling but a welcome one at that. “If you’re free tomorrow, I can come over and take a look at it? We can go from there?”
“That would be amazing. Thank you, Logan.”
“No sweat.” He smiles, giving me a wink.
“So, are you back now? You’re not going away again?” he asks, his voice uncertain and if I’m not mistaken, a little vulnerable, something I never expected him to be.
“No, I’m not going away again, though in some ways I wish I could.”
He frowns. “What do you mean?”
“It’s hard, being back here. My house feels so empty, so… foreign without him. it doesn’t really feel like home anymore.”
He starts towards me, tipping my chin up to look into his eyes. He traces his fingers over my cheek softly. “Give it time, Ames, and remember, I’m here if you need me. Day or night.”
“Thanks, Logan. It means a lot.”
“Fuck, it’s so good to see you.” He drops his forehead to mine and sighs deep. He’s so close. So incredibly close. It would be so easy to lean in and kiss him.
My eyes close instinctively but snap open when a loud cough sounds at the door. It’s the blonde guy from earlier. “Sorry to interrupt, but we’re getting swamped out here, and we could use a hand, Lo.”
“Sure, I’ll be out in a sec.”
“Sorry, I’m in the way of your work, I’ll go.”
“You could never be in the way, babygirl.” He smiles down at me before walking me to my car. He holds open the door for me, but pulls me in for another hug before I can climb in.
“Thanks, again, Logan. I appreciate it.” I make the most of the short time I have him in my arms, his hard chest pressed up against mine.
“It’s no problem. I’ll see you tomorrow.” He presses a kiss to my forehead, his lips lingering for a moment, before stepping back.
“Bye,” I say, climbing into my car.
The spot on my forehead where his lips touched my skin still tingles from the contact, my heart pounding heavily in my chest as I pull away. I glance back in my rear-view mirror to where Logan stands and watches me drive away before he eventually disappears as I turn the corner.
Chapter 6
Logan
“Who the fuck was that, dude?” Vince, one of my mechanics, asks, leaning against the hood of the car he’s working on.
“None of your fucking business, man.” I fight the smile working its way onto my face. I can’t help it. The last thing I expected today was to have her show up at the garage, but what a pleasant surprise it was.
Fuck, she’s absolutely stunning.
Her long silky blonde hair that flows like a waterfall down her back, those big ocean blue eyes I want to drown in, hidden behind her large round glasses that frame her face perfectly. Her shirt hugs every beautiful curve of her body, and those tight jeans that cling to her long, slender legs...Fuck.
There was a feeling within me when I looked up to see her standing there, something I never realised I felt.
I missed her.
