“I figured that was why you kept quiet. I’m not mad at you.”
I breathe a sigh of relief. “I’m glad we cleared this up. Convincing Ares about it will be a different story.”
Chance tucks a strand of hair that’s escaped from my ponytail behind my ear. “If he’s as smart as he says he is, he’ll understand.”
“I hope so.” The words come out more like a yawn as my body sends me signals that it needs sleep. “I’m beat. Is it ok if I hose off before going to bed?”
“Absolutely. Let me turn the shower on for you. I can go shower in the master bathroom, and Chance can use one of the other bathrooms.”
I lower the zipper of my leather jacket, dropping the garment to the floor as I follow him to the en suite bathroom.
“The shower is nice and hot for you, Zee.”
“See you in five.” Chance slaps my ass with a chuckle. “Go get yourself cleaned up, you dirty girl.”
A part of me is a little sad that Chance and Lev didn’t try to join me as I stand under the warm jets of the shower.
But truth be told, I’m really exhausted, and all I want is to let my body recover from tonight’s race—and the fall—and to let my mind rest.
The road ahead of me looks paved with challenges, but that’s a problem for future Zara.
Chance and Lev are both back in the room by the time I exit the bathroom wrapped in a fluffy towel.
“Hey Zee,” Lev hands me one of his old t-shirts. “You can sleep in this if you want.”
The cotton is as soft as butter, probably because it has been washed many times; the faded logo on the front says “Star Cove High Hockey.”
Lev has about a foot on me, so the t-shirt reaches just above my knees.
“Thanks, Lev.” I smile.
“Don’t mention it. Maybe next time you stay over, you could bring a couple of things to leave here? I have plenty of room in my closet. I don’t mind you sleeping in my clothes, but just in case you’d like to have your own stuff.”
He’s the most thoughtful of my guys. “That would be great. I have no clean underwear, but I don’t like wearing any at night, so it doesn’t bother me. I might have to borrow a pair of boxer shorts from you tomorrow or go commando.”
“Come on, baby,” Chance moves the comforter on Lev’s king size bed. “Get in the middle. You’ll never hear me or Lev complaining about you being commando.” He chuckles, wiggling his blond eyebrows.
Lev turns the lights off before getting into bed, and I settle between them, comfortable and safe.
“Good night, Zee.” He whispers, brushing my lips with his.
“Sweet dreams, baby.” Chance turns me around, his soft lips touching mine for a brief moment, before returning a second later for another soft but more lingering kiss.
A groan escapes from me as I hug myself tighter to my stepbrother. “Hmm, you feel so good.” I murmur against his lips.
“You too, baby.”
His mouth leaves mine, trailing soft, openmouthed kisses down the column of my neck.
By the time Chance reaches my collarbone, my nipples are hard and sensitive, and I’m hyper-aware of the feeling of the cotton of my t-shirt rubbing against them.
I’m tired but wired, and despite feeling exhausted, the spot between my legs is pulsing in sync with my heartbeat. Squeezing my thigh muscles doesn’t bring me much relief, and it doesn’t go unnoticed by the two men in my bed.
“You feel a little tense, Zee.” Lev’s fingers skim their way down my waist, over the fabric of his old t-shirt. His touch is gentle, his voice a low whisper. “Is there anything Chance and I can do to help you relax?”
Before I can say anything, my clit answers with an intense throb.
“I don’t know.” I moan. “I’m so tired, but you guys are so warm and hot. And you smell so good.”
