“Lots of practice.”
Jealousy rippled through her, and before shecould stop herself, a low growl rumbled past her lips. Apodis eyed her with an odd look, and she cleared her throat, trying to ignore the unusual possessiveness that had come over her.
Apodis was just a friend. He owed her no loyalty. Especially when he was talking about people he’d been with long before they’d ever met. A friend who ate her out better than any partner she’d ever had, who’d fucked her with a tentacle like it was a one-of-a-kind sex toy made just for her, but a friend all the same.
“The tentacle was a nice touch,” she said, desperate to break the awkward silence as they emerged from the cool water, the heat of the forest hitting her once again now that she was back on shore.
She followed his lead as he lay on his back, letting the glittering moss dry them, resisting the urge to curl up in his arms.
“Human males don’t have them?” Apodis asked, waving his tentacles as he turned onto his side, giving her a snarky grin.
“No, just a tongue and a single… appendage.”
It was impossible to stop herself from glancing at his crotch, and he conspicuously let one of his tentacles rest on the ground in front of him, blocking whatever bulge might be there from view.
“Well, that is a shame.”
Andthatwas a fucking understatement. Howthe hell could she go back to a dick or toy after experiencing that prehensile tentacle inside her? And curiously enough, he had two tentacles and one cock—she presumed—the perfect number to fill each of her holes.
“We should get back to the cabin, so I can cook the mushrooms you wanted.”
Oh, right. The mushrooms. The whole reason they were out here in the first place. The fungi had been long forgotten while Apodis was between her legs, but her stomach growled in earnest now that her focus was turned back to the promise of delicious food.
“Mushrooms would be good,” she said with a grin, taking his hand as he helped her up.
Maybe this didn’t have to make things awkward between them.
Maybe everything would be okay.
CHAPTER 10
APODIS
Why didhe have to be so awkward?
Apodis tried to maintain his composure as he worked in the kitchen, but it was difficult with Gemini staring him down like she wanted to eat him. Humans didn’tseemlike a predator species, but at the moment, he felt every bit her prey.
A thought that exhilarated him to no end.
He could see the hunger in her, and it wasn’t just food that would satiate it. Not when she was going into heat. Andhewas going into rut.
Tasting her had not nearly been enough, and he had no idea how he would lie in the same bed with her tonight without driving himself mad. A cold shower would hopefully help abate the raging erection in his pants, but for now he tried to focus on the task at hand.
“It smells so good,” Gemini said from her chair, her voice coming out in a soft moan that made every muscle in Apodis’ body coil with tension.
The sounds of her pleasure, the taste of her arousal, it had almost put him in a frenzy earlier and his brain was flashing with all sorts of erotic images that were not helping the matter.
After a few seconds to compose himself, he turned to her with a smile.
“I hope you like them.”
He was folding the dough around the mushroom mixture, while the finished dumplings fried in a pan with some synthesized butter.
Gemini stood, limping over to him with a big grin on her beautiful face.
“Can you show me how to make one?”
“Oh, uh, sure,” he said.
