"I need to talk to you, Harrison."
"What is it? What do you need?"
He places the tray he's carrying on the table next to me and comes around to sit closer. I see he's brought sandwiches andsome soup. Something simple yet comforting, just the way I like it. I find that every time he learns a new thing about me be it a new preference in food or something I like, he immediately makes sure he offers me that.
"Harrison, I think it's time you go back to work."
"What? No. I have to take care of you. You can't fend for yourself right now, and someone needs to be here to help you."
"I think I'm good now. It's time for you to go back to work."
"Are you trying to get rid of me?"
"I just don't want you to lose your job because you're taking care of me. I can get around the house now and you know it's easy for me to go to the solarium and just work there without any trouble. I don't have to stand or anything for that kind of work."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I'm sure but it's been great having you here so many days in a row."
"You know why I did that, don't you?"
"I have an idea."
"I have to take care of you because you're the most important thing in the world to me. You're my person, the woman I love."
"I love you too, Harrison, but what are we gonna do?"
"What do you mean?"
"I teach high school in Boulder and you are part of the SAR team here in Hunter’s Peak."
"I'm sure we'll find a way my angel. The first question is will you move in with me?"
"Are you sure?"
"I mean, I don't know how long you're sabbatical was supposed to be, but I would like to spend as much time with you as possible."
"Yeah, it's indefinite for now. I am out here searching for myself and I think I've found not myself but someone who makes me feel as if I'm walking on air."
"I'd do anything for you, Iris."
"OK, I guess we're moving in together. This is exciting."
"I've been sleeping here for this whole month, angel."
"Yeah, but now it's official you're my boyfriend and I'm your girlfriend."
"It sounds silly when you say it like that. You're so much more than just a girlfriend; you fill my life with joy. I don't wanna ever find out what it is to live without you."
"Then make sure that you don't have to."
"I love you, Iris."
"I love you too, Harrison."
He spent the rest of that week, taking care of me even though I didn't want him to, but when Harrison makes up his mind about something, there's no changing it, and I'm glad for it because he's decided that he loves me and I don't want him changing his mind about that.
He tells me he loves me often, and I try to do the same for him because we are just so happy to have found each other up here in this mountain.
