"So, they could help other children?"

If only that's really what their reasoning was,Gianna thought."Something like that."

"Sounds challenging."

"It was.But I did it."She took the last bite of her frozen treat."And now look at me.New dimension, new me, I say."

He raised his eyebrow."How long have you said that?"

"For about two seconds."She giggled. He even chuckled a bit.

She stared at him."Did you just chuckle?"

"I do know what humor is."

"So, you do have emotions."

"Muted ones."

"Well, then I'm taking your chuckle as a huge deal."

He smiled at her.She grinned back and they continued walking.

Not long, though, she had to use the bathroom again--she really did seem to have a bladder the size of a pea--and Marcin walked her to one of the public facilities.

A couple of other women were going in, one with antenna like what Re-lee had, but she was more of a green color, and the other one had a bronze-gold skin with ridges on her forehead. The different species of humans--correction, humanoids--amazed her.All seemed to be bipeds, like her, but the variations. It aroused her curiosity about species evolution and if there was a neutral gene somewhere, a base gene that all the species evolved from.It was a very exciting idea.

All these thoughts roamed around in her head while she did her business, this time without needing any help to translate the buttons. It was clean and easy now that she knew what to expect.

As she was getting finished, she heard the women outside talking.

"And did you see that Rhimodian?"

"Stunning.Just stunning."

"They all are," the first one agreed.

“I can’t wait to sink my teeth into one.”

“They always come around.”

Gianna walked out of the stall, and they glanced at her then each other.

Ugh, even across dimensions, there were always mean girls.Too bad mean girls were a universal thing.

She'd hoped it was just an Earth thing.

It rubbed her wrong that they were in there talking about Marcin like that.A strange pull in her gut—he was her mate, but she was also new to this sector, and what did they know that she didn’t?It bothered her what she didn’t know.

Especially, she didn’t like when they looked at her like that, like she wasn’t worth bothering with.

She rolled her shoulder back.Regardless of what she knew or not, Marcin was her mate, and she didn't care for how they were speaking about him.

Purely from a clinical standpoint, of course. It wasn't because she had feelings for him.It was only because he was designated hers.Or so the dating agency said. For at least the next thirty days, anyway, he was hers.

Normally, this would be where Gianna pulled out her earrings, but she didn't have any on.

"Yep," Gianna said as she came out of her stall, letting her voice carry through the bathroom facility."That Rhimodian is pretty amazing. And, boy does my mate have it where it counts!"
