"This is not how I expected our homecoming to be," Marcin said.
"We are not home yet," Solkan said.
"We will be," Marcin said.
"You seem optimistic of the future," Kolvin said.
"Anything is better than where we were."
Kolvin nodded."We should be reconnected with Master System."
Solkan snorted."We are outside of the blocking from the ship.If Master System wanted us, Master System would have connected to us."
"Unless they did something to us to prevent connection," Kolvin said.
"Master System would have found a way," Solkan said.
His body started to tense, and he stepped forward, more aggressive than he had been up to this point.
Marcin stood."Peace, Solkan.Master System is working on it."He believed that Master System, their protocol programming would not leave them stranded without connection.
Solkan didn't say more.He just grumbled and leaned against the wall with his arms crossed.
Marcin rubbed his head.It felt better to have all his hair cut off.He felt clean for the first time in a very long time, and that pleased him. They had been given humanoid clothing to wear that was more common for general populace than their typical flight suits that the lysteel made for them. The flight suits were unique and would draw extra attention. The lysteel and the nanites worked together to produce whatever they needed, whether it was weapons, shielding or clothing, to aid them.
Something about the suits revealing things.
Marcin wasn't sure what that would be--they were covered from neck to foot. But for now, he was doing what he needed to in order to survive and get back to his people.
That task seemed to be getting more complicated by the moment. The prison ship's explosion had damaged their vessel, and they were stuck on Disguised Serenity, a space station that rested just off the warp tunnels, between the edge of the Terran Empire and the Sol system, where the Rhimodians were settled.
The female, Vinka, was watching over the three of them for the time being. Her, and the female humanoid Re-lee from the Intergalactic Dating Agency. They, however, did not have operational offices in this sector, at least not according to his data.
Marcin’s data was five years old.A lot could change in five years.
After a few moments, Officer Vinka and Re-lee came back in the room.It was explained that the numbered doors were apartments for them to reside in, and that they needed to pick their place.
The idea of having a place of his own, where he could be alone, but also be safe soothed and appealed to Marcin. He didn't care what it looked like.
Just that he had a door and a little more of his own identity back.
That was a special gift.
Marcin took 102.
Only because Kolvin took 101, and Vinka hauled Solkan into room 103, where she started yelling at him.
Marcin was not sure if Solkan would control his temper, but neither he nor Kolvin heard much besides her yelling at him.He imagined it must be quite a sight, her yelling at him, since she came up to just the top of his shoulders.
He took a seat on one of the chairs again and waited.
In case the female needed assistance.
He did not think Solkan would do anything harmful to the female, but Solkan's temper sometimes fluctuated hot.
Marcin tried to reach Master System.
He ran through base diagnostics. All systems seemed nominal, and all protocols were operating in expected parameters.
