She moaned as Freya adjusted her position, and the sound felt like someone stabbed him in the chest.
How could she ever forgive him?
How could he forgive himself?
This was why he was Tarnished in the first place—letting his emotions get the best of him, and now, here he was, hurting the one person he was supposed to take care of and protect.
He muttered a curse as he looked for a medical kit.
“I’m sure there’s one somewhere,” Freya called out to him.
There was really no place he could find one.Even the box for the one on the back wall was empty of equipment, and he wound up ripping it off the wall in frustration.
The females gasped.
Caoimhe in pain.
Freya in shock.
"I'm sorry," Bahran said.
Caoimhe’s face contorted in pain, but she didn’t make any more noise, just started breathing harshly.
"Did you look in the survival bag?"Freya said, pointing to the bag they'd pulled out of the escape pod before.
Of course, there was a medical kit in the survival bag.He felt like a fool for not thinking sooner to check the bag.
"Here," he said, handing it to Freya.
She started going through the pieces."Ahh, here we go."She started to spray a foam concoction on Caoimhe's shoulder.
"What is that?"Bahran asked.
"Immobilizer.It'll keep her secure until we can get her some medical attention."
"She probably needs some nanites," Kian said.
"Not a bad idea," Freya said.
"Whatever you need," Caoimhe panted.Pain marred her beautiful face, and it destroyed him inside.
It was all his fault.
He didn’t deserve to have his Tarnish removed, he should stay marred with his lack of control of his feelings forever.
He dropped to his knees next to her."I'm sorry.I am so sorry I didn't protect you enough.I'm sorry I hurt you.I know you cannot forgive me for that, but I pledge to spend my life proving that I am sorry.I give you myself to make it up to you--"
