"And unfortunately, we are losing many and have several of the border worlds being stripped of everything to continue the fight. Not to mention what it is doing in some places to the population. Many families are being torn apart because of a war that probably should have never happened in the first place."
"I cannot disagree with you," he said as he led her to a side door. This one had standard heavy blast doors.
She took in the detailing and saw the manufacturer's mark on the trim. Not only was it a known company, but it was also an older one. They had been in business for centuries. The Terran Empire had a few contracts for constructing certain things--like blast doors."I thought your people built all of this."
"We didn't build it all. Some of it was already here."
The doors came open, grinding as they did, the noise loud and dominating.
"Like this place?"
"This place was one of the few places that were already built. We fortified it, added our own necessities, and built it up while we worked on other sites to make the world the most hospitable it could be."
"You terra-formed the world?"
He shrugged."In a way. Most of the work was merely determining how to use and adapt to the environments. We learned and perfected the lysteel," he held up his arm and gestured to the gauntlet on his forearm."Then we grew our assets."
She glanced down again at her arm, where she could see the sleeve of her white dress with its intricate embroidery, all in red, the color of the Terran Empire.
And she couldn't help wondering about her own people.
What had the Terran Empire done?
What would they be known for?
It seemed the Rhimodians would be known for their incredible talents and their work to the Sol system.
The Terran Empire?
For trying to destroy them.
