“She trusts you.”

“Evidently, more than her father.” She glanced around and turned to retrieve the blade. “I want you to know, I don’t like this.”

“Noted.”

She smiled. A little one. He ran his hand over the gauntlet, signaling the jamming session was over.

Then glanced at the horizon. “It can’t be far now.”

“The settlement should be just over the rise.”

“Well, let’s get moving, then.” She holstered the blade.
