He raised his chin, and she couldn’t help noticing his jaw’s hard lines.

Stop it, she told herself.

She blamed it on the crash. She was not thinking all-together straight yet. A nap would do her wonders, she was sure of it.

He spoke as though he didn’t notice her thoughts. “I was honest too. I, like many of my people, search for the perfect peace and balance. And I have, on occasion, been overcome with emotion and reacted without proper analysis of the situation and executing proper protocols.”

“Bet that didn’t make your programming very happy.”

“No, it did not.”

Did he just smile?

Maybe a tiny bit?

She wasn’t sure. The sharing was interesting, to say the least, but it was time she walked away from it.

She had to find the princesses and make sure they were okay. If that meant talking and being friendly with this Rhimodian, then that’s what she would do.

“I am, however, going to rest,” Veta said. She didn’t really want to sleep, but whether she wanted to or not, she was going to need some rest. Her body needed it. Her headache wasn’t as bad as it was before, but a nap would help it.

Besides, it would create trust, her going to sleep and letting him watch over her.

And whether she liked it or not, she was going to need the trust of Wrathin.

At least for the time being.
