“Exotic dancer,” Justus corrects. “Years ago. And I was a star. You should’ve seen my unicorn act.”

This night has been far more entertaining than I thought it would be.

“Real sorry we missed that,” Lee says with a snort. He seems to be having a good time too. This is what I was hoping for tonight. Just the tiniest reprieve from all the stress.

Justus gives him a quick once over. “I will not be judged by a giant lumberjack.” He tilts his head like a curious dog. “Have you ever thought of shaving that beard?”

“Don’t you dare.” The words spill out of me without a thought, and all eyes dart in my direction. Lee looks amused and pleased. “I mean…”

Justus nods, interrupting. “Is it hiding a weak chin? Beards are like makeup for men. Jowls? Is it jowls?”

“I like the beard,” I announce. I really do. He keeps it trimmed short, and I love the way it feels when he kisses me and when his face is between my legs. The way he looks at me, it’s like he knows what I’m thinking.

After dinner, Lee builds a fire in the living room and lets Rogue inside. Landon plays with her while Justus and I make the drinks.

“Whiskey or bourbon?” he asks Landon.

“Bourbon. Do they have a daiquiri for you?” He grins up from where he’s kneeling to pet Rogue. “Justus only drinks girly drinks.”

“As a matter of fact, we’re making strawberry margaritas,” Justus replies, flipping him off.

“There’s a higher alcohol content in our drinks than yours,” I point out.

“You tell him.” Justus blends the mixture as Lee rejoins us.

“What are we celebrating again?” Landon asks.

I hand him a drink “My homeowner’s insurance was refusing to pay after a fire destroyed my place. They finally gave in today.”

“Hey, that’s great. Are you going to rebuild?”

“No, the insurance company will deposit the money in about thirty days. I’ve decided to try to sell the place as is and let the next owners deal with it. I’ll buy another house.”

The rest of the night is fun. We sit around the living room, talking about a little bit of everything while Goblin and Rogue get absolutely spoiled. Goblin keeps climbing onto Justus’s lap.

“Everybody loves me. It’s a gift and a curse,” Justus quips.

The conversation occasionally touches on the situation we’re dealing with, but not too much. The Moonlight Hotel doesn’t have cameras, which isn’t a surprise considering what goes on there. Landon has also been staking it out at night and hasn’t seen anyone come or go in a bright red wig. It looks like another dead end. There isn’t a lot to say, and it’s nice to have a break from it.

By the time Landon goes back to the cabin, and Justus heads to the guest room, I’m buzzed and happy. The house is quiet, with only the sound of the shower running in Lee’s bathroom. He’s left the bathroom door partly open, and I can see him through the glass shower door. Fuck, the man is hot.

I push the door until it’s wide open so I can get a viewfrom the bed. Then I strip naked, lie down, and prop myself up on a pillow to watch him. My hand slides down between my legs. I wonder if I can make myself come before he gets out of the shower and catches me?

As soon as he steps out, his eyes land on me. They never leave as he quickly dries himself off while I put on a show for him. Tossing his towel aside, he slowly stalks to the foot of the bed.

“Couldn’t wait for me?” he says, his voice husky.

“It’s your fault. I saw you in the shower. Are you going to take over?”

His cock is hard and he gives it a few casual strokes. “Not until I see you come.”

The way he looks at me makes my cheeks ignite. He lets out a low moan that’s half growl when I dip my finger inside to get it wet before returning to rub my clit. I’ve never touched myself in front of him, and I’m shocked how much it turns me on.

I watch him lazily stroke himself and I can’t wait to get him inside me. “Fuck me,” I plead.

“You want my cock?”

“Yes.” My fingers work faster.
