Pleasure crashed into her, tension eclipsing until her entire body shook with the orgasm. She might have been crying, screaming, praising him, and then she felt the first stutter of his hips. The frantic thrust as he drove deep and stilled with a moan around her name. Heat filling her as they trembled in an embrace.

And then Laz’s lips were on hers, desperate and hungry as he devoured her breaths and any rational thought she might have tonight.

There was a contented buzzing over her as he continued to whisper praise, easing her legs down as he slipped free. He lowered to his knees, confusion pinching her brows as she watched, but then clarity snapped when his hands grabbed the insides of her thighs and parted her.

“You better keep all that inside you,” Lazerath growled, and that alone had her clenching with a little whimper. He smirked, licking his lips as he eyed her center, then seemed to shake out of his trance. He leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to her lower belly, looking up to catch her eye. “One day, I’m going to do that for real. Put a little demon baby in you.”

She whipped out a hand to catch herself before her knees buckled, hand curling over his horn for purchase.

He chuckled, pressing another kiss to her skin before rising, dotting kisses up her belly and breasts before taking her lips. “You like thatidea, don’t you?”

Rosalind hummed. “Maybe.”

Laz lit up like the damn daymoon, smile wide and unrestrained. “Tease. Dav and I are going to compete for who can get you pregnant first.” He lunged for her, holding her face in his hands as he kissed her. “We’ll never let you leave.” Another kiss. “Just stuffed and leaking our cum out of your cunt until?—”

She playfully shoved at his chest. “Laz!”

“Fuck, getting ahead of myself again.” He laughed and scrubbed a hand through his wet hair, blinking like the water shocked him. “Shit, should probably finish the shower.”

They did, more or less, manage to finish cleaning themselves in a reasonable amount of time. Lazerath left her to finishreallycleaning while he grabbed her bag and the supplies within. And when she was snuggled in one of his shirts that hung to her knees, wrapped in his embrace as he nuzzled into her neck, she let those words really sink in.

A future with Lazerath and Davarox. Another body in this bed, another tail twisting around her leg, another warm kiss goodnight.

Maybe even more.

Laz rubbed her hip then slipped his warm hand down to cradle her lower belly.

“This okay?”

She smiled sleepily. “That’s really nice.”

He was quiet, thumb idly drawing circles on her, then said, “I’m really fucking glad we met you, Rose. The other day with the delivery… thank you for standing up for Dav.”

Rosalind rolled, collecting her wet hair off her neck as she turned to face Laz. “It’s awful that we have to.”

Laz’s lips twisted. “Sometimes I feel like I’m holding him back. He’s so fucking smart, like you. He could be doing so much more than working in a bakery.”

“You don’t think he enjoys it?”

The demon shrugged. “Maybe some days. But he gets this sort of… distant look sometimes. A sadness, and he doesn’t think I see it, but I do. I don’t know. I guess I worry that he’s only still hanging around because he thinks I still need him to protect me.”

Rosalind considered it.

Frowned.

Compared it to everything she knew about the gray demon and what she’d observed in their time together. The words he selected. The mannerisms. His defensiveness.

The books.

Then looked at the red demon currently having a crisis about his best friend’s happiness, or supposed lack of, while his tail thumped behind him and he chewed on his lower lip. Stared at him from the perspective of another demon and discovered it wasn’t all that different than how she looked at him.

“I think,” she said carefully, “that Dav is protective by nature, and you’re his best friend. He’d protect you from me if he felt it necessary. Which will never happen, by the way.” Rose smiled when he looked at her, grateful that his shoulders softened with the gesture. “Life hasn’talways been kind—to any of us, it seems. Maybe some days, the sads win. And I think in those moments, you remind him of the joy he has. I know that’s true for me, getting to know both of you.”

His arms wrapped around her, nestling her into his chest. “You’re part of that too, you know.” Laz kissed the top of her head. “Think if I tell him I came inside you he’ll bend you over and fuck you right there on the front counter while I watch?”

Rose settled closer, letting her eyes drift closed as she laughed. “He might not even give you that privilege. Probably send you to the back to listen only.”

There was silence for a moment, then Laz groaned long and low. “Worth it.”
