Her jaw trembled. “What are the plans?”
“Dominic let you come to me with the plan that you’d get close enough to kill me. I have given you many chances to do these things, yet you didn’t. Tell me why?”
“I-I…” Her voice trailed off, and she tried to look away from me, but I guided her by the jaw back to me.
“Why?” I repeated.
“Because I don’t know if you’re the real monster here,” she finally whispered.
I closed my eyes and breathed out.
“Matteo? Are you playing me?”
“No,” I said, opening my eyes and staring down at her. “I… I want to go home, too.”
She crinkled her brows. “You are home…”
“No, I am in hell. Not home.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Do you want to be queen?” I asked softly. “Do you want to rule everything? Dominic and the kings at your side?”
“I… I do.”
I nodded and closed my eyes again. I inhaled deeply before I opened them.
“Then I need you to do something for me. Something that will give you everything you could ever want and save so many people.”
“What?” She frowned.
I leaned down and brushed my lips against her jaw. She shivered against me, her hands on my chest.
“I need you to kill me.”

ALESSIO
“Mm, I love how soft your skin is,” I murmured as I kissed Indigo’s bare shoulder.
She laughed, so sweet and soft as she snuggled against me in the tub of bubbles we were in.
It had been a long day, a long week, in fact, and I needed this night off. I’d barely been able to see my sweet Indigo, but now that I was here, I had no intention of leaving until I’d fucked her at least two more times.
We’d been out looking for Rosalie all while trying to plan a damn wedding for Alessandro and Bianca. Klaus had skipped the planning and remained on the streets, searching for anything he could find for Rosalie.
In fact, he searched so much that I was beginning to worry for his health. He had become obsessed. We’d heard nothing from the horsemen about anything, past what Alessandro relayed to us, which wasn’t much.
I didn’t want to think the girl was gone because she truly was a sweetheart, but I was losing hope. Despite that, I participated in the search because giving up would break Klaus’s heart, and I simply could not do that to him.
“Come here, pretty girl,” I said, dragging her back onto my lap as the water waved to the edge of the jetted tub.
She smirked at me, so beautiful it made my chest ache. If something happened to her, if she were taken from me, I knew I’d be doing exactly what Klaus was doing.
I couldn’t blame him for trying to tear the world apart. Him or Alessandro, since it was what both were currently doing. Leaving beautiful women alone with monsters was a bad idea.
I knew damn well Matteo was spending a lot of time with Bianca.
