“Thanks for bringing me here today, Troy.”
“Does that mean I’ll get to bring you back?”
I nod, buckling my seatbelt. “You can bring me back anytime. I love your parents.”
And I mean it.
I only hope Troy and I can have more days like this.
Chapter Twenty-Five
TROY
Troy
I’m picking you up in 15. Dress warm
Angie
What? Where are we going?
Be ready
Troy Hollins!
Down to 10
Why do I have to dress warm?
Because we’re going out
It’s February. It’s too cold to do anything but stay inside
I thought you were a Colorado girl and could handle the cold
Why do you think I came to schoolin San Diego?
5 minutes…
Troy!
Are you ready?
If I say no, can we stay inside?
2 minutes
Fine. I’ll be ready
That’s my girl
“It’s too cold to go to the beach!” Angie burrows deeper into my side. Her sweet perfume wafts over me. I never knew that it could be so calming, but every time I smell that sugary vanilla perfume, it reminds me of Angie, putting me at ease.
“You have my hoodie. You’ll be fine. Besides, it’s not that cold.”
“Look!” She pulls the sleeve of said hoodie up. “Goose bumps, Troy. Goose bumps.”
“Do you need me to keep you warm?” I wrap the blanket I brought with me around her shoulders.
