Okay, now that’s not funny

See? :P

It’s my charming personality, right?

So charming…so, study session today?

I have practice

So after?

I’ll see you there

“Hollins. My office.”

I groan at hearing the bark from Coach Morris.

“What’s that about?” Marcus asks, setting the weight bar in its stand.

“No doubt about my grades.”

“I thought you were doing better?”

“I am. Unless I fucked something up.”

And with the semester ending next week, I won’t have time to do anything about it.

“Relax. Maybe he’s just calling you in to congratulate you.”

“With that tone?”

“Stay positive.” Marcus chucks his sweaty towel at my face.

“Gross, man.”

“Just trying to distract you.”

I flip him off as I head to Coach’s office. Marcus and I came in early to get a workout in before our practice today. With finals and Christmas break coming up, I’m full of nervous energy.

I don’t want to fuck up everything I’ve been working so hard for. SDU is currently at the top of the standings, and if we keep it up, we’ll get an automatic bid to the playoffs.

Everything I’ve been working toward these last four years is about to come to a head. And I’ll be damned if I fuck it up now.

“Everything okay, Coach?” I stand in the open doorway.

“Why would you think it wasn’t?”

“No offense, but it’s like getting called to the principal’s office when you ask to see me.”

He laughs, leaning back in his chair. “No need to bullshit. I need to see you, I need to see you.”

“So what’s up?”

“I reached out to your professors to see how you’re doing.”

“And?” I swallow, trying to settle the nerves that are threatening to explode out of me.

“Whatever you’re doing, I expect you to keep it up next semester. A B- in calculus and a B+ in astronomy. Excellent work, Troy.”
