A blush creeps up Angie’s cheeks. “S’okay. I started it.”
“Troublemaker.” I wink at her before opening the door for her and helping her up. She doesn’t need it, but any excuse to touch her.
“Where are you taking me?” Angie asks as I get in the car and point us in the direction we need to go.
“It’s a surprise.”
“Hmm.”
“Good hmm?” I sneak a glance at her.
“I don’t mind surprises, but I always like guessing where we’re going.”
“Okay.” I reach across the console and rest a hand on her leg. “Hit me with your best guesses.”
“Hockey game.”
I pull up to a red light and look over at her. Face completely neutral. “I’m not that lame, Angie.”
“I know. Movies?”
“Nope.”
“Dinner?”
“There will be dinner,” I confirm.
“Good thing I’m hungry then.” Her much smaller hand closes over mine. Flipping it over, I link our fingers together.
“Are you now?” I squeeze her hand tighter. Her words drive me crazy. I’m hungry for more than just dinner. Hungry for everything she’ll give me.
“I guess you’ll have to find out just how much.” She drags a finger up my arm.
Fuck. Me.
I am not going to make it through this date with Angie touching me like this. I’ve never craved anyone like this before. Angie has awakened something inside me that I never knew existed, which is insane, since I haven’t even been with her yet.
“The zoo?” I get us here on autopilot, trying to push down every thought of Angie’s naked body.
I nod. “They have a really good fall fest. Lots of good food and drinks.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever been.”
Helping her out of the car, I link our hands again and we walk to the entrance.
“To the zoo?” I hand over our tickets and we go through the turnstiles.
Angie laughs. The setting sun reflects off her brown eyes, lighting them up. “I’ve been to the zoo. I used to cry when I was little.”
Jesus. This might turn out to be the worst first date ever.
“You did?”
Angie nods, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear. “Yeah, but I got over it as I got older once I realized they were helping the animals. What I meant was I’ve never been to a festival here.”
“My parents took us when we were younger. We’d getour faces painted, eat churros, and get to stay up late. It was a special day.”
“You and your sister, I’m assuming?” Angie asks.
