It gives me a minute to wrap my head around what he’s asking.

A date. Troy is asking me out on a date.

A date I really want.

“I’ve got something up my sleeve. That okay with you, Angie?”

Angie.

The way he says my name is like hot cocoa on a cold winter day. It warms me from the inside out. It shouldn’t be as much of a turn-on as it is.

Damn him.

The very last thing I need to have is a crush on Troy Hollins. Tutoring him is one thing. A full blown crush? I need to squash it before the feelings have time to settle. Because feelings will only lead to problems.

Big ones.

But my mouth doesn’t get the message.

“A date. I’d like that.”

Chapter Twelve

TROY

“You sure you don’t want to come out with us, Gladiator?” Randy asks as we head into the house.

“Positive.”

Randy has done nothing but pester me about why I’m not going out with the team tonight, and he follows me to my room to keep asking.

Because I spent all afternoon with them, I want to spend my night with Angie.

And I know exactly where I’m taking her. With the team’s annual open skate to raise money for the booster club having been this afternoon, I have all night with Angie.

And I don’t want to waste a minute of our time trying to decide on the perfect thing to do together.

“Whoever she is, make sure you impress her.”

I flip Randy off before grabbing a new shirt to change into. “I know that. I’m not an idiot.”

“Sometimes I question it.”

“Why do I put up with you?” I laugh to myself as I slip into a new white, short-sleeved button-up shirt. It makesmy biceps look good. Something I know Angie seems to like on me if her staring is anything to go by.

“You love me.” Randy gives me a cheesy grin. “I’m assuming you won’t be back here in time for the party tonight?”

“Do you ever get tired of partying?” I ask him.

“Never. Not when there’s women to be had.”

“Dude. That’s sick.”

I’m surprised the guy doesn’t have an STI at this point.

“You’re missing out.”

“I’ll take your word for it.”
