I make a split-second decision.

“Yeah?” He turns around, an easy smile on his face.

“I’ll help you.”

“Come again?”

“I said I’ll help you. With astronomy and calculus.”

“You don’t have to just because I helped you.”

“I know. But I want to.”

“Are you sure?”

I nod. “Yes. But no one can know.”

“Okay.”

“I mean it. Nobody.”

“It’ll be our secret.” He mimes zipping his lips.

“Give me your phone.”

He unlocks it and passes it over. I open the contacts and drop my number into his. “Text me.”

“Thanks, Angie.” He gives me one final look before he disappears back into the night.

They can’t really be that mad if I’m only tutoring him, right?

At least I hope.

“Well, good luck.” Harper smacks my leg. “I’m going over to see Marcus.”

I stow my laptop in my bag and turn to face her. “Things seem to be going well with him.”

A dreamy look washes over her face. “They are. He’s so hot.”

“Is that the only thing you like about him—his looks?”

“As if,” she says on a laugh. “There’s somethingdifferent about him. He’s not like the other guys I’ve dated.”

“I’ve heard that one before.” Usually when I’m picking her up off the floor when they break her heart.
