“I could go to Nashville.”
Angie shudders. “Then we’ll go to Nashville. And you’ll be the best damn player the Knights have ever had.”
“You’d be okay with that?”
“Like you said. As long as we’re together, I don’t care where we end up.”
“God, I love you.”
The smile she gives me lights up her entire face. “I’ll never get tired of hearing you say that to me.”
“I’ll tell you every single day. You might get sick of it.”
The tide rushes in around us, soaking our pants. “Never. I will never get tired of hearing how much you love me, Troy.”
Grabbing her around the waist, I swing her around and run farther out into the water. “Even if I drop you in the water?”
“Don’t you dare!” she shrieks, trying to climb up my body.
“So there’s a limit on how much you love me?”
“I’ll love you even if you drop me in the ocean.”
I hike Angie up my body, wrapping her legs around me. “Then it’s a good thing I don’t want you to freeze all night.”
“That makes you the best boyfriend there is.”
“You know that title is eventually going to need an upgrade.”
“Oh yeah?”
I nod, dragging my nose along her jaw before nipping at her ear. “I plan on making you mine forever.”
“Forever, huh? That sounds like a pretty good deal to me.”
Fiancée. Wife. Mother. I want everything life has to offer with Angie. Even though it’s going to be a crazy few years with hockey consuming every minute, I want to give her everything.
Because she deserves it.
She’s the kindest, most loving person I know, and there is nothing I wouldn’t do for her.
“Are you two going to stay down there all night?” Dad calls behind me. “Food is getting cold.”
“I guess we should probably join the party,” Angie whispers, sliding down my body.
I don’t let her leave though. “As soon as we get back, I’m having my way with you.”
“Good. Because I’m ready.” She winks at me before running back up to where our families are waiting.
Teasing little minx. I watch her as I follow in her path, happiness radiating off her. Angie said she’d follow me anywhere, but I can’t help but think that I’m going to be the one trailing after her.
Angela Brooks-Young is the most captivating person I’ve ever met. She draws people in with her kindness and big heart. She’s sexy without even trying.
I don’t know how I got so lucky to have her fall for me, but I won’t waste a second of our time together. It’s going to be the two of us taking on the world.
“Hot dog?” Carter asks, breaking me from my thoughts.
“If you break Angie’s heart, he’ll probably poison it,” Nick tells me, matter-of-factly.
