“A novel idea when I’ve already seen you naked, but yes.”
“Will it involve more of what we did last night?”
I laugh. “I don’t really want to be arrested for indecent exposure, love.”
“Might throw a wrench into my plans of being a Dixonite of good moral standing.”
“Yes, love, they wouldn’t want to see all of you out like that.” I drag a finger down her chest. “Me on the other hand? I’m ready to see more.”
“Maybe I should make you wait until our date then.”
“Is that a yes?”
Layla closes the distance between us, sealing her lips over mine. She tastes like mint and coffee. I lick the seam of her lips, easily being granted entry.
It’s a slow kiss—lazy like the morning we’re having. Her hands drift up and down my chest, setting my skin on fire. I can’t get enough. I drink in everything she pours into this kiss. I could do this for hours and not get tired.
All I want is Layla. And for now, I’ll take her anyway I can have her.
She breaks the kiss first.
I smile against her lips. “I’ll take that as a yes.”

SIMON
“Does this actually count as work?” Pierce asks me, lacing up his hiking boots. “Because it doesn’t seem like real work to me.
“Making sure you don’t fall down the side of a mountain without someone taking your photo? That’s a job unto itself.”
“Funny.” Pierce flips me off.
As far as work goes, it’s been smooth sailing. I don’t know if it’s because they’ve visited family here in the past—before I worked for them—or that the town isn’t interested in royals, but it’s been easy days watching the property.
And getting to spend as much time as I can with Layla.
“You ready?” Pierce asks me.
“I’ve been waiting on you.”
With the kids down for an afternoon nap, Pierce and Charlotte wanted to get out and explore. Gramps is watching the kids, should they wake up, which means I’m on hiking duty with these two.
Not that it’s a hardship.
Following them out of their cabin, they set an easy pace up the trail. Seeing as how we’re staying mostly on the property, I’m not worried about running into stray paparazzi. They’re too soft for these trails.
Pierce and Charlotte are holding hands, walking close together. I let my thoughts drift to Layla.
I’m so fucking happy that I bumped into her that day in the barn. I don’t know if we would be together like we are now if we hadn’t.
That woman is consuming my every thought. I’ve never met anyone like her. She’s sexy. Confident. Strong.
And the way she shows off that lingerie?
Fuck. I have to adjust myself so I’m not rock-hard in my shorts.
Because Layla has that effect on me.
