“I like the way you think, Rae.” I love the way my nickname rolls off his tongue. Not just my name, but everything. His accent is orgasm-inducing.

“I could ask you the same thing. What would you be doing if we weren’t here tonight?”

Leo takes a long pull on his drink, mulling over my question. “To be honest, I’d probably be working.”

“Do you ever do anything for fun?” I bite into the mini-pizza, enjoying the different flavors on my tongue.

“That night I met you at the club?” I nod, acknowledging his question. “I was coming from work. The day was full of screw-ups, and I had to stay late to fix them. Just the way of the world when you run a big company.”

“But don’t you have people who can help you?”

Leo shakes his head at me. “It’s not always that easy. The people who were supposed to help were the ones who screwed it up.”

“Sounds like you’re a control freak.”

Leo drops his fork, extending his arm to wrap his hand around my neck, pulling me in close. “I thought that much was obvious. I’m possessive of the things I care about. My company. The work we do and our reputation. You.”

Butterflies erupt in my belly. But those butterflies turn into so much more. “Leo! I can feel them moving.”

“You what?” His eyes light up in the low light.

“Here. Feel.” I grab his hand and rest it on my belly. I’ve felt tiny movements before, but nothing like this.

Another kick has Leo pulling his hand away. “Holy fuck. That’s the baby?”

“Yes.” I rest my hand where his was, in shock that their movements are so noticeable.

“Does it hurt?” My eyes drift up to Leo’s, his focused on my hand.

“No. I can’t believe how amazing it feels, though!”

Leo’s hand moves back to my belly. “Wow, Reagan. Just…wow.”

He’s speechless. The look on his face brings tears to my eyes. The pregnancy has been real for me since the day I found out. But for Leo, it looks like it just got that much more real for him.

“That’s our baby in there.” I chew on my lip, waiting for him to look at me.

When his eyes find mine, they are shimmering with tears. I clasp his hand, giving it a squeeze. Leo drops a kiss to my lips. There's nothing heated about it. But right now, sitting here with him on this boat, everything feels pretty damn close to perfect.

The look he’s now giving me should scare me. But it doesn’t. Because it’s pretty close to how I’m feeling right now.

“That’s our baby, Rae.”

Yeah, pretty damn perfect indeed.

Leo

“Stella! Where are the files for my next appointment?” Anger makes my voice louder. It’s been one thing after another today, and if one more person questions me, I might lose it.

“Someone sounds like they’re on edge.” Reagan strolls into my office, a playful smile painted on her face. She drops the files I’m looking for on my desk, as she sits on the edge in front of me. Her blouse pulls around her growing bump. I love seeing her bump, knowing our baby is in there.

“Fuck. I’m about ready to snap today.” I brush a rough hand over my face.

“What can I do to help?” Her fingers move through my scalp, scraping and massaging.

“Just that.” I rest my head on her legs, revelling in this quiet moment between us. “Keep doing what you’re doing.”
