“Well, hopefully they’ll back off. In case you haven’t heard, they are eating up my recent appearances.”

“They’ll be forgetting all about the playboy, and only want this prince I get.”

He looks down between us. “Well, maybe notthisprince. This would certainly undo all the good work I’ve been doing.”

I give him a playful smile. My hands glide down his chest, his cock already hardening at my touch. “Well then, if we’re going to undo all that good work, might as well get our money’s worth.”

Chapter Thirteen

Zara

“You little minx.” Marnie’s voice startles me from the quiet of my classroom. I’ve taken to eating lunch in my classroom to avoid the stares and whispers from other teachers. It feels like I’m back in secondary school and I’m left outside the clique.

“What on earth are you talking about?” I pierce her with a look. I have no idea what she’s referring to.

“The photos of James leaving your house last night. I want all of the juicy details.” She plops herself down in a chair next to my desk, her eyes dancing with intrigue.

“The paparazzi will be the end of me. Why is everyone so interested in me? I’m a nobody.” I look down at my lunch, no longer hungry.

“Honey.” Marnie’s hand is warm on my forearm, pulling my eyes up to meet hers. “You are no longer a nobody. You are dating the first in line to the British throne. Of course they are going to be interested in you.”

“I just wish that we could date like two normal people. Stay over at one another’s houses and not have to worry about appearances if he sneaks out in the middle of the night.”

Marnie’s smile turns positively gleeful. “And just why would he be sneaking out in the middle of the night?”

My smile mirrors hers as I glance around the room, ensuring we’re alone. “Because we slept together,” I whisper.

“Tell me everything!” Marnie shouts, clapping her hands. “I want all the details. How was he? Does his dick live up to all the hype?”

“Shh. We’re still in school!” I wave her down, trying to keep her quiet, but it’s no use. “Of course it was amazing. I don’t think it’s ever been so good.”

“I can tell by the way you’re blushing.” She wags her finger over my face. “You’re like a schoolgirl who got kissed by the cute boy for the first time.”

“I can’t help it. He was so good. Amazing. Fantastic.” I hated that James had to leave. Even the few hours we spent together last night weren’t enough. I want more than just these stolen moments together.

“Best shag of your life?”

I nod.

“I knew it. There’s no way he’d get into that many panties if he didn’t know how to use what God gave him.”

“He is more than just what’s in his pants.” I hate that even my closest friend only sees what the press puts out there. There’s so much more to James than just his colourful past with women.

James’s presence in my life has rocked me to the core. When we were told this arranged marriage would need to work, my walls went up. How did anyone expect me to fall in love with the “playboy prince”? The one who was more concerned with the women he slept with than the work he did? But now, I’m seeing a different side to James than the one that’s splashed all across the media. He wants to do good work. He wants the respect of his citizens.

And now, he’s slipped his way past my carefully constructed walls.

“I’ll have to meet him then. Just because he has you falling in lust with him, doesn’t mean he’ll pass the best friend test.” It’s possible I’m falling more than just in lust with him, but she doesn’t need to know that. Not yet anyway.

“How about Friday? There’s no palace-approved event, so I could convince him to come over.”

“Can’t we go to the palace? I’ve never been before.” Marnie gives me her best sad face to try and convince me.

“You know he doesn’t actually live at Buckingham, right?”

“Fine. Kensington. I guess I’ll have to rough it.” She rolls her eyes at me. “I’ve already been to your house countless times. Why would we go there?”

“James likes coming over to my place.”
