Color flooded my cheeks at the memories he incited. Avoiding his gaze, I moved to help Griffin with his cereal.
Thankfully, Paris arrived and being her garrulous self, she eyed Shay openly. “And who’s this sexy hunk of white chocolate I’d like to lick.”
Did I mention Paris was a beautiful Indian girl named Prashnie Singh? I grinned at Shay’s surprised expression before it dipped into that sexy smile he wore so well.
“Shay Donovan.” He held out a hand to her.
“Nice to finally meet you, handsome,” she purred, throwing a wink my way. “We should do drinks sometime. If you can handle your tequilas, you’re my man. Gotta run, now. Ta ta, babe.” She disappeared, like the whirlwind she was.
“Colorful girl,” Shay was still staring after her and I didn’t blame him.
“She’s an acquired taste to most and a darling to the rest.” I laughed and the sound drew his wistful gaze.
“Lunch?” he asked, his eyes pleading with me.
“I’ll see,” my reply was non-committal, his smile said otherwise.
He turned to Griffin. “If your mom is okay with it, would you like to come over and play some video games later? We can order pizza?”
Griffin’s face brightened, his eyes flicking to me, and I didn’t have the heart to say no. “Caleb and Jesse are supposed—”
“They can come over to my place,” Shay interjected. “You’re welcome too if you like,” his voice softened an octave. “For old times?” he whispered.
“I’ll see.” The only words I could give him right. Yet those six dried roses said a whole lot more.
If only we could bloom again...

“That’s the lot?” Brax dropped into a couch after we’d offloaded and packed my clothes into the closet. The more time I spent in Frank’s home, the more I appreciated the old mans’ ingenious. He’d read some pretty intense books, built stunning model ships his nephew could sell for a packet and kept the home in top condition. There was literally nothing to fix.
The last week and a half in Blue Haven had been nothing but hell. I was on constant edge stemming from several things. The most important being Skye’s choice to ignore me. In the time it took me to move from Rocky Mountain, get settled in and acquainted with the shop, I’d allowed her a leeway. Given the four guys employed at the shop had worked there for years, they had a good handle on things which meant my attention was easily divided.
Let the fun begin.
